it’s not about giving hope to addicts. it’s about keeping people away from ever touching drugs to begin with. its about showing addicts what can happen to them if they continue. it’s about showing those in recovery what could happen if they decide “just one today should be fine”
still feeling angry, sad, or disappointed in how rue’s story ended? don’t just write a hate tweet— get some narcan, learn how to administer it, and carry it with you! it can be the difference between life or death in opioid overdoses, including ones caused by fentanyl
@cowboylikecaymi exactly. i watched seasons 1 and 2 struggling with my addiction and watched season 3 after hitting my 1 year sober. the show was my why i got sober. bc i didn’t wanna end up like that!
@islarose EXACTLY! people think im crazy for thanking Sam but this show SAVED me. it showed me what my life would look like if i don’t stop. and i did. i have to credit him for some of that! i’m so sorry for your loss🫶
@Ohamandaplease_ yeah but as a Rue, it gives me hope. it really does. i’m hoping people see that it took ONE pill and that was it. and sometimes that’s what happens! hopefully this will deter people from even starting in the first place. it was never supposed to be a good ending.
@zenssdayaa that’s the unfortunate most realistic thing tho. as someone’s who’s suffered addiction, i can tell you i’ve had so many relationships end with zero closure. the closure is knowing sometimes you just don’t get all the answers!
@sctterbraind but there shouldn’t really be an argument. we ALL knew this was honestly gonna be the outcome! i think the crushing part was she WAS clean! up until that day she was sober! it’s a hard pill to swallow knowing it literally takes ONE time and sometimes it’s all over.
@sctterbraind addict here! sobriety is NEVER linear! it may take someone multiple attempts before they for real get clean. some of us just don’t. and others stop and never look back. what works for one doesn’t always work for another!
