@NTGates @BBCSpringwatch @RSPBScience @_BTO @RoyEntSoc Our garden nesting Great Tits (fledged) & Blue Tits (imminent) have been ceaselessly feeding suet/mealworm pellets & sunflower hearts from our hanging feeders. Without this I’m certain they’d have lost their broods as not finding any caterpillars.

There is public access & farming activity. The area is not wild land but does contain wildlife. Laws are imperfect with loopholes. It is essential our precious wildlife is not the loser here

@PlushieTumRs @quantocknature @Geckoo76 @NaturalEngland @Natures_Voice @Quantockhills Great point re poss clash 🤔 If the RA does result in need to widen fire break at this location & proper timely surveys have been done for reptiles emerging from hibernaculum & bird nesting activity with no evidence for either then perhaps cutting now is indeed appropriate

Well, I reckon that was a fitting final 2018 #ToadPatrol tonight for me here at my local patch in West Somerset. 10degC road dry with damp patches. An hour’s patrol resulted in this single male crossing the road headed away from the pond @froglifers @ARC_Bytes @ARGroupsUK

It would be fantastic if kestrel (& merlin) numbers are increasing locally 🤞🏻
