Today in #aviation history (September 1, 1974): A USAF SR-71 Blackbird sets the transatlantic speed record of 1h54m56s flying from New York to London. It's unknown if the crew of this flight radioed Center to request a ground speed check.

@NJTRANSIT_NEC Only later did I find out (via departure vison) that these were Trenton bound trains that were running 42 minutes behind schedule. If the platform monitors were kept up to date there wouldn’t be a need for the departure vision system to get suddenly inundated with requests.

@NJTRANSIT_NEC Probably due to it being overwhelmed by users. I was at Newark Penn at 5pm and trains are showing up which aren’t mentioned on the platform screens so people are trying to figure out what’s going on.
