My final words at the TCD hustings held on 14 January 2025 emphasised the fact that 25% of the Irish population are of migrant background, and Trinity College Dublin, throughout its history, has educated students from all over the world. However, the Trinity Panel has yet to see a member elected from among these diverse communities.

This experience further strengthened my resolve, and I believe that this final edition of the Trinity Seanad Election could be my time to be elected.
I am confident that future generations will appreciate your decision to vote for me as your No. 1 candidate. Your support will allow us to make history together to create not just a more inclusive and diverse Trinity Panel, but by collaborating with me further to help deliver on my key priorities; a more inclusive and unified Ireland.

As a candidate of a migrant background, a practising barrister, a lecturer, a mother and a visionary leader, I bring a unique perspective that can enrich our parliamentary representation and decision-making process. My response at the TCD hustings on the 14th of January, highlighting that by upgrading the energy ratings of our old residential building will not only help us to reduce our emissions but will help to avert the impending fine of €20 billion if we fail to meet our targets by 2030.

My response effectively highlights the importance of upgrading the energy ratings of old residential buildings and its potential benefits. I had a few seconds to respond, so I could not provide further details which I highlight below.

The government needs to consider the long-term advantages of investing in energy-efficient upgrades of residential buildings. These include:

1) Reduced energy consumption and lower utility bills for residents, ultimately saving them money and contributing to a higher quality of life.

2) Increased property values and overall attractiveness of the housing market due to improved energy efficiency ratings, and therefore increased tax revenues.

3) Opportunities for job creation and economic growth in the construction, energy auditing, and green technology industries.

In summary, by reducing emissions from residential buildings, we will be better positioned to meet our targets, avert potential fines, improve the quality of lives for citizens while creating a more sustainable and prosperous future for Ireland.

My responses at the TCD hustings on the 14th of January, what I will do as a seanadóir to help students in the area of health, wellbeing and mental health.
In the video I highlighted that I would advocate for the removal of the €2000 contribution to reduce the number of hours that students have to work at odd jobs in order to pay for their expenses. I will also advocate for affordable students accommodation to be prioritised. I drew example from my experience in the university of Lagos Nigeria where education was free in federal universities and where on-campus accommodation was afforded to students in their first and final years. If these could be achieved in developing countries. Ireland can do much better.

My responses at the TCD hustings on the 14th of January, where I highlight that as a Seanad I will advocate for the removal of the students' contribution of € 2000, because that would put extra money into the student's pocket so they won't have to do several hours of part time jobs to fund their expenses. Doing this will reduce the level of stress that students experience and it will prevent mental health issues.

On the campaign trail on Saturday with my senior colleague, Cliona Kimber. Thank you so much, Cliona.

Cliona is the founding chairperson of Comhshaol, the climate bar association, of which I am the treasurer. She has also led me in an employment law matter, where, together with the instructing solicitor Stefan O'Connor of Mannion Solicitors, we successfully represented the client's interests.

My day-to-day practice focuses on advocating for equality and defending human rights, be it in employment, education, disability issues, access to services, housing, social welfare, and more.

Becoming a Trinity Seanad will enable me to play a greater role in society, and I would appreciate your strong support in making this a reality in this final edition of the Trinity Seanad Election.

As a practising Barrister and mediator, I have dedicated my life to public service.

My work spans human rights, employment law, and community advocacy.

I am running for the Seanad to bring that same dedication to national policy making. Let’s create an Ireland defined by equality, inclusion, and opportunity.

On cross-border relations: the peace and prosperity we have built on the island including the gains of the Good Friday Agreement must be preserved and strengthened.
