Push Your Soul Towards Obedience

The Prophet ﷺ said to a man: “Accept Islam.”
The man replied: “I feel unwilling.”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
أسلِم وإن كنتَ كارِهًا فإنَّ اللَّهَ سيرزقُكَ حُسنَ النِّيَّةِ والإخلاصَ
“Accept Islam, even if you are unwilling, for Allah will grant you sincerity of intention and purity of heart.” (Musnad Ahmad: 12080, authenticated by Al-Albani & others).

Qatadah رحمه الله said: “O son of Adam, if you only worship Allah when you feel motivated, your soul will pull you towards laziness and boredom. But the true believer pushes himself to keep going and finds strength through it.”

True faith is not about waiting until you “feel ready.” It’s about pushing yourself forward, then Allah opens your heart.

Whatever you do dear parents, please never let your kids stumble upon you while you both are being intimate. Sigmond Freud called it the “primal scene” and there are studies that show that children that are accidentally exposed to the primal scene (parents having s*xual intercoursè) tend to have a more unrestricted sociosexual orientation compared to those who did not. That is, they are more likely not to attach much meaning to intimacy and will have it casually. It might also lead to other intimacy issues later in life.

At such a young age the child does not understand what they saw leading to confusion, but it provokes s*xual excitment nevertheless.

Some precautions to take:

1. Ideally, parents and children should have separate rooms.

2. Make it mandatory for your children to seek for permission before entering into your bedroom. On no account should they badge into the room unannounced. Start this with them at a very young age and let them know it is a serious offense to breach this. They should knock/say tasleem, say “may I come in”, wait to get permission before opening the door. This is an important etiquette you must have in your house.

3. The bedroom door should have a lock which should be used whenever adults intend to get involved in adult things.

4. This might sound absurd but I will say it nonetheless purely for educational purposes. Be careful about those quickies that happen in random exposed places in the house when the kids are temporarily away. He/she might have forgotten something and come back to it, only to find Daddy and mummy in an awkward position. However high the heat of the moment may be, lock the doors of the house or go to your bedroom.

5. Where possible, the parents room should not share the same wall with the children unless they are reasonably sound proofed. Children can be very mischievous, and hearing strange sounds coming in from the bedroom can prompt them to want to investigate what is going on even if they have to peep through the keyhole or under the door!

6. Avoid unnecessary display of intimate affection before your kids. A peck and a hug are normal things you will do even with the kids, but a kiss should he avoided and whatever goes beyond that. It arouses curiosity about what Mummy and Daddy does behind closed doors if they do this. More so, it unnecessarily sexualises them at such a young age. As a matter of fact there are indications that the primal scene can also come from a child inferring it from gestures he sees without necessarily observing their parents in the act itself (if they kiss then they probably do more behind closed doors…). Even the home deserves modesty, and certain things should be confined to private spaces outside the presence of the children.

7. Avoid wearing clothings that reveal your intimate parts at home especially to children of the opposite sex. Fathers should not wear underwears that freely allows their dangling member to move around and about to the curious eyes of a daughter. The aurah (areas meant to be covered) of a man is from his navel to his knees and they should be adequately covered. Mothers should not wear revealing clothings that expose their intimate parts to their sons. Wearing lingeries and other seductive clothings are for the eyes of your husband alone!

As much as I know the realities of Nigeria may make some of these difficult to implement, they should be a paramount concern on our minds as we think of expanding our family, and we should do our best to make the best of what is available.

If this has already happened, you may want to see a child therapist.

The disturbing allegations surrounding the young man popularly called “Bossman” show that this issue may be far bigger than many initially thought.

Reports now claim he allegedly deceived multiple girls, recorded private videos with them, and later used those videos for intimidation, manipulation, and emotional blackmail.

If true, this is not just immoral — it is wicked, criminal, and deeply destructive.

One of the biggest dangers of these situations is that some victims continue living in fear for years. A private video in the wrong hands can become a tool of lifelong blackmail, humiliation, and emotional torture.

Some women reportedly remain trapped in toxic situations even after marriage because someone from their past still possesses intimate materials and threatens to leak them.

This is why society must take this issue seriously.

Let this be a warning and a lesson: • Never allow anyone record intimate moments.
• Never trade your dignity for temporary emotions.
• Anyone using private content to threaten or manipulate another person is committing a serious abuse of trust and humanity.

There is an urgent need for continuous awareness, counseling, and education — especially for young people growing up in the social media era where one reckless decision can destroy lives.

And to anyone facing blackmail or threats: Speak to trusted family members, religious leaders, counselors, or the authorities. Silence and fear only empower abusers.

May Allah protect our dignity, guide our youth, and bring relief to every victim suffering in silence.
