I'm not a member of APC, nor am I a Tinubu supporter. But one thing is certain, I will never tolerate insults directed at my tribe. My tribe, my honour. I am a proud Yoruba child.

Let me share a short story.

My first serious relationship lasted from 2019 to November 2022. One of the major reasons we broke up was because he constantly insulted Yoruba people. Was he right about some negative behaviours? Maybe. Every tribe has its flaws. But constantly generalising and speaking down on an entire tribe in my presence was something I could never accept.

I even left Lagos for Kaduna because of him. That's how much I loved him. I kept asking him, "Don't you remember that I'm Yoruba too?" Yet he never had a reasonable answer. Ironically, he's from Edo, and my grandmother is also from Edo.

If I could walk away from someone I deeply loved and respected because he repeatedly insulted my people, then who is a stranger on the internet that I should overlook for doing the same?

Criticise Tinubu, Criticise APC, Hold politicians accountable, but leave the Yoruba tribe out of it.

And if you cannot call out those Igbo pages who constantly make tribal attacks against Yoruba people, then please don't come to my page expecting me to keep quiet or lecture me on how to respond.

Stop blaming one man for decades of neglect.

Between 2000 and 2007, industries across Northern Nigeria collapsed. Factories closed, jobs disappeared, and national assets were privatized.

Who was in power? Who was the Vice President? Why did the North lose so much of its industrial base?

President Buhari gave states bailout funds. President Tinubu has increased FAAC allocations, strengthened local government autonomy, and introduced reforms. Yet, every hardship is pinned on him alone.

Some states are generating their own electricity. The South West is pushing regional rail development. What transformative projects are Northern leaders delivering with the resources they receive?

Real development starts with accountable leadership at every level—not just the Presidency.

If we truly want a prosperous North, we must stop making Abuja the excuse for every failure and start demanding results from those we elected closer to home.

Nigeria succeeds when every level of government works.

I was relaxing in front of my shop when a young cattle herder walked by with his herd. He stopped, stared at my shop for a while, and looked genuinely curious.

I smiled and said, "How about giving me one cow for free?"

Without hesitation, he replied, "What would you even do with a cow? You already have a shop!"

I laughed and said, "Then let's trade—you give me all your cows, and I'll give you my shop."

He shook his head. "No way!"

I invited him inside to enjoy the cool air from the fan. After a few seconds, he looked at me, smiled, and said, "You wouldn't last a day as a herder."

I couldn't stop laughing. Then I took a photo of him and showed it to him. The moment he saw himself, he burst into laughter.

We both laughed like old friends before he waved goodbye and continued on his journey with his cattle.

That brief encounter was a reminder that every child has a story, dreams, and potential. With access to education and opportunity, many more doors can open for children like him.N
