Day 18✅
Today, I completed the last two modules(16 & 17) of the Networking Basics course on @CiscoNetAcad.
I studied the Application Layer services and the Network Testing Utilities. Later on, I did the module assessment quiz and also the checkpoint exam, results shown below👇
Yesterday, I said I was going to spend today working on my AI Management System assignment since it’s a public holiday.
I’ve been on it for most of the day, and I actually made good progress. The plan was to finish the whole thing today, but NEPA had other plans. 😭
They took the light, and I continued working with the battery I had left. Now my PC is off, so I’ve had to stop. I’m really frustrated because I was only about two sections away from finishing it. 🤧
One thing that took up a lot of my time was figuring out the right width and height for different elements and images.
The values from Figma didn’t work well for my layout, so I kept trying different values, going back, changing things, and checking again until everything looked right.
If it wasn’t for that, I probably would’ve finished much earlier.
I hope the light comes back soon cause I'd love to finish this assignment today.
This is where I stopped 👇. I'll continue from here once the light comes back.

Got everything on my to-do list done today.
I didn’t get much done on my AI Management System assignment because I spent a lot of time experimenting with CSS animations and making sure I actually understood them.
I realized I’ve been focusing too much on getting my assignments done and not enough on practicing what I’m taught in class.
There’s a public holiday tomorrow, so I’ll be on my PC for most of the day working on my assignments.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to break my current coding record of 9 hours and 17 minutes in a day 😂
Played around with CSS animations this afternoon and made this little car move 😂
It’s basic stuff, I know 🤧😂 but seeing something I wrote actually move on the screen made me excited 😂
My instructor gave us 4 Figma designs, and our task is to turn them into real websites.
I started working on the tourism design two days ago, and I thought the exact values in Figma were going to make things easy.
“Just copy the width, copy the height, and move on.”
Yeah… not exactly. 😂
The font sizes and weights were mostly straightforward, but the widths and heights were a different story.
When I used some of the exact values from Figma, things looked way too small on my actual screen.
That’s when I realized I couldn’t just blindly copy the numbers.
I had to adjust the dimensions, check the result, adjust again, and keep going until the layout actually made sense in the browser.
My biggest lesson from this project so far:
You need to develop an eye for design.
Using your own judgment doesn’t mean randomly changing things until they look okay. It means understanding the design, paying attention to how everything fits together, and making decisions based on what actually works.
I’m done with the Tourism design.
1 down, 3 more to go. 🚀

What I got done today as a Frontend Engineer & Google IT Support student:
1. Integrated APIs — continued connecting the frontend with the required endpoints and working with the application data.
2. Read the Building Production-Grade Apps handbook — continued learning about the practices and decisions that go into building software that is reliable and maintainable.
3. Attended an @Ubuntuafrica_hq meeting — discussed project-related updates, requirements and the next steps with the team.
What did you get done today?
