It's because the things we have been clamoring for since 5 years ago, 3 years ago 1 year ago, 2 months ago, have not been done.

We're understaffed, overworked as a result, yet we're underpaid.
This is uncalled for.

The remaining doctors will bear the load of the gap left. Which will obviously reflect in the quality of care that the patients receive. Governing bodies have refused to listen to doctors and whenever we raise our voices, we are treated like the enemy.

We have a healthcare crisis on our hands.

Are we waiting until there is a total collapse?

From having over 250 resident doctors to now barely 60 across all departments. Lautech Teaching Hospital is at an all-time low performance. Our lamentation still goes to the governor and people of Oyo to save us.

NARD supports the strike action by the Resident doctors at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, which commenced on July 29, 2025.

The decision follows the expiration of a three-week ultimatum issued to hospital management and the Oyo State Government over unfulfilled promises.

Despite partial actions taken on certain arrears and reimbursements, several key demands remain unmet. These include payment of the new minimum wage with arrears from January 2025, release of the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), provision of accoutrement allowances, recruitment of additional resident doctors, and renovation of dilapidated call rooms.

The strike notice, signed by the Association of Resident Doctors’ President Dr. Stephen Adedokun and General Secretary Dr. Adedapo Mustapha, stated that doctors will not resume work until tangible and acceptable actions are taken.

They also raised alarm over the dwindling workforce, citing a drastic drop in the number of resident doctors from nearly 270 to less than 65, leading to extreme pressure and risking a collapse of hospital services.

The Oyo State Government has yet to issue an official response to the strike action.

Since the government said they will train new doctors if the ones on ground leave, the citizens will reap from their wisdom in taking such stance. The ones on ground also have decided not to be at receiving end.

Still paying paid 2019 CONMESS when there are 2023, 2024 CONMESS table and FG is working on reviewing the 2024 table. Other health workers in the state have migrated to the 2024 table since January.

The strike action, previously suspended on the premise of a 3 month allowance to resolve the cries of the association which includes non-payment of the new minimum wage, accoutrement allowance and MRTF, & gross paucity of Resident doctors across all department, yielded no fruit

@seyimakinde there are just 10 houseofficers in the whole of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital @lth_ard as of this day. Reason? A disparity of >60k exists between their pay and that at the Federal Teaching hospitals, same for Residents. Unacceptable!

But presently, many of what is taught and practiced by the scribes and Pharisees of our days are wrong.
