If someone told you apples could be grown in Nigeria, would you believe them?
This apple tree on a client's farm has finally started fruiting.
Farming teaches patience in a way few things can.
Some weeks ago, I learned how to grill chicken from my friend and brother, Bolu Grill. Yesterday, I was invited to showcase that skill at an Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Exhibition at Ajayi Crowther University.

Meet Nosipho Vuthela from Mt. Fletcher, Eastern Cape — a young woman proving that agriculture is the future of rural South Africa. 🌱🇿🇦
A graduate of the Fort Cox Agriculture and Forestry Training Institute, Nosipho specialised in animal and crop production and returned home to turn knowledge into impact.
Today she leads the Gedlumhlanga Youth Co-operative in Upper Ngxaxha where they are building a thriving rural enterprise through:
🐔 Poultry farming
🌿 Medicinal plant cultivation
🌽 Crop production
🥣 Animal feed production
🎓 Agricultural training & seminars for young farmers
But her mission goes beyond farming.
Nosipho actively mentors students and empowers emerging farmers, helping young people in rural communities see agriculture as a real path to success.
Her message is powerful:
“There are many opportunities in agriculture. By 2050, farming will play an even bigger role in feeding the world.”
From a small village in the Eastern Cape to leading a youth farming movement — Nosipho Vuthela is planting seeds of hope, opportunity and rural transformation. 🌾👏🏾
I believe in WORK and RESULTS 💪
Yesterday, we harvested the first set of habanero in Her Excellency's farm in Abakaliki.
She called me after the harvest with so much excitement just to appreciate the effort of my team so far.
The harvest shows results of hardwork, resilience, commitment of my team members
Excuses don't built result or success, consistency, working smart, and hardwork does.
Nigeria will only work until we farm correctly.

500 Layers Profit Calculation (Using 75% Production)
Many people requested we calculate 500 layers for investors.
Let’s break it down step by step using 75% production, not unrealistic 90%.
Step 1. Daily Egg Production
500 layers × 75% production
= 375 eggs per day
1 crate = 30 eggs
375 ÷ 30
= 12.5 crates per day
So we can say about 12 to 13 crates daily.
Step 2. Daily Revenue
Price of egg per crate = ₦5,100
12.5 crates × ₦5,100
= ₦63,750 per day
Step 3. Weekly Revenue
375 eggs × 7 days
= 2,625 eggs per week
2,625 ÷ 30
= 87.5 crates per week
87.5 crates × ₦5,100
= ₦446,250 per week
Step 4. Monthly Revenue
375 eggs × 30 days
= 11,250 eggs per month
11,250 ÷ 30
= 375 crates per month
375 crates × ₦5,100
= ₦1,912,500 monthly revenue
Feed Calculation
Average feed intake for a layer is about 115g per day.
500 birds × 115g
= 57.5kg feed per day
Your feed bag is 25kg
57.5kg ÷ 25kg
= 2.3 bags per day
Daily Feed Cost
Price per bag = ₦14,500
2.3 bags × ₦14500
= ₦36250 per day
Weekly Feed Cost
₦36250 × 7 days
= ₦253,750 per week
Monthly Feed Cost
₦36,250 × 30 days
= ₦1,087,500 per month
Other Monthly Expenses
Labor = ₦100,000
Medication, transport, emergency = ₦100,000
Total other expenses:
= ₦200,000 monthly
Total Monthly Expenses
Feed = ₦1,087,500
Other expenses = ₦200,000
Total monthly expenses:
= ₦1,287,500
Estimated Profit
Monthly revenue = ₦1,912,500
Monthly expenses = ₦1,287,500
Estimated monthly profit:
= ₦625,000
Profit Breakdown
Daily profit estimate ≈ ₦32,900
Weekly profit estimate ≈ ₦247,000
Monthly profit estimate ≈ ₦988,000

Now let’s decide the next calculation together.
In my next post I will break down the total money needed from day-old chicks until they start producing eggs.
But which farm size should we calculate first?

They sent me a video of my cocoa harvest today. I planted the seedlings some four years ago from proceeds I earned as a research writer on fiver. I bought 8 acres of farmland and planted cocoa on it.
When i started, I didn't know I'd one day be fully invest in farming. Today, I have close to 40 acres of farmland and still hoping to hit 100 acres before the year ends.
In the second frame is the oil palm and cocoa nursery for a 20 acre famrland i just cleared and preparing for the planting season.
You are welcome to my farm journey. If you want to go into farming, this page is the right place for you
Dear Beloved Farmers, don't be in rush planting now. Instead start preparing your land. ( Cleared up the weed , apply fertilizer, plough the land at least twice and other necessary things). Someone said why?............ " Because the raining season is just about to set in"
