For 12 years, a South African company called Optasia quietly controlled Nigeriaโs entire airtime and data borrowing market, collecting over โฆ3 trillion every year.
No Nigerian staff. No local office. The money just left the country.
This week, President Tinubu approved nine Nigerian companies to break that monopoly.
The jobs stay. The taxes stay. The profit stays in Nigeria.
Now Nigerians are taking their market back.
Nigerian security forces have rescued about 360 people who were abducted by Boko Haram fighters.
The statement says many of the abductees had been kidnapped from various communities across Borno State.
Al Jazeeraโs Ahmed Idris reports from Nigeria's capital Abuja.
You believed the kidnapping, went further to mock the man but suddenly believed the rescue operation was a fake? Did you fall from your mother's back as a child?

This reminds me of the case of Chidimma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Mr. Usifo Ataga. On the 12th of October, 2023, she narrated in court, how she drugged Mr. Ataga with rophynol, tied his hands with handkerchief and stabbed him with knife in his neck, ribs and stomach.
Despite all these, people were making case for her and pitying her just because she looked "innocent"
The case is still in court and I won't say much. All I know is that, humans are conditioned to favour people who are good looking and it will take serious and conscious effort not to fall for it.

As a Yoruba Muslim, this is the kind of Islamic preaching that I want to be hearing and seeing in all our mosques across Southwest/Yoruba land every Friday/Juma'at.
This is not the time to be pushing for Sharia law in Yoruba land if we truly care about our safety from these bandits/terrorists. The word "Sharia", no matter the good intentions it has, has been bastardised by these bandits/terrorists. It would only be very foolish and insensitive for any Yoruba Muslims to be calling for such laws in the Southwest/Yoruba land at this time.
If the land is not safe, no one will be able to practice any religion freely whether you support Sharia laws or not. So, we must be united as Yorubas (แปmแป Oodua) to keep our spaces safe at all costs.
May God/Allah/Eledumare keep protecting us all.
