How do you deal with emotional dysregulation in conflict? I struggle because I want to get conflict over with immediately because of RSD but I also know I need time to calm any emotIonal outbursts. #AskADHD
When someone shares their autistic experience, followed by their very valid feelings on it, and you shout "internalised ableism" at them, that is called gaslighting. You're telling them their feelings aren't valid and a product of their own psyche with no basis in reality.

How do you maintain friendships? I feel like I’m unable to maintain friendships for a long time because of inability to reply / commit to hang outs because of my ADHD. #AskADHD
To be completely open, it’s very hard for me to feel proud or happy about having ADHD because it’s caused me so much distress for as long as I can remember. I know there’s still a lot of internal work that needs to be done with addressing this and I’m trying.
Driving gives me extreme anxiety despite having my license for 7 years. I have a lot of dents in my car from backing up into things because I got distracted for 1sec and driving in populated areas makes me so anxious I shake. Does anyone deal with this and have any tips? #AskADHD
if I try to initiate a conversation on a date and time, I always get very vague answers which makes me want to put it off because I have to go into my calendar and try to type every single instance where I’m free versus having one specific day.
I’ve always struggled to maintain my friendships even more now that they are all long distance. I’ve told my friends “hey! it would really help if you could give me a specific date and time you’re free so we can hang if it’s been a while” and yet….. no one does this.
@ucimalo I believe so!! There’s one called the suppression of appetite.. by Caroline Davis as well as Comparison of the effects.. Rowley (2000). There’s also a volume review with the central nervous system and drugs that suppress appetite by Kshatriya & Bello but I haven’t read it yet!
@ucimalo There’s actually quite a few scientific journals on this that say dopamine seeking behavior is reduced and why people are less inclined to eat! It‘a why stimulants that people with ADHD use are also given to those with eating disorders involving impulsive eating!
Does anyone have any tips for dealing with ADHD without meds? I was on vyvanse in the US which was really helpful but I can’t get them in my home country. I usually get sleepy after drinking coffee by the way. #askADHD
As someone who grew up in a culture where punctuality is key, I realized that I became someone with ADHD that was never late — just always incredibly early (an hour usually). Though this is helpful in the real world, it’s incredibly exhausting.
It’s very hard for me to handle conflict with #ADHD. I need time to organize my thoughts and emotions, and then to further put that into words that makes sense and won’t be taken differently. The issue is, the more time I give to do this, the more my RSD kicks in.
Because RSD is really bad for my physical state, I recently have just been putting down whatever I can about how I feel but most of the time it’s taken out of context or people use my own words against me because I couldn’t explain it clear enough.
Any advice on how to get the courage to finally contact them and apologize since I really don’t want to push it back but even thinking about it makes me physically nauseous.
#ASKADHD I was part of an event group but I disappeared because of depression and family issues on my end. Now it’s been 2 months since I last contacted them. I wanted to contact sooner but anxiety about the repercussions and backlash has made me hesitate.
