@AustinISD Student code of conduct isn't a bug problem when everyone is sick or afraid to get sick. Please return to the safety measures of last spring and protect us. My entire family got covid from our school. Thats 3 students and a teacher out sick.
@AustinISD Of losing the quality that makes this a place parents want their students to be. Teachers need to be valued. We need to be paid for what we do. And if we take on extra responsibilities, we need that valued as well. AISD needs to PAY for quality. Quantity doesn't educate kids.
@AustinISD There is a multitude of staff that have been devoted to education for years that are approaching or crossing the line to make them career shift. This district, in the midst of this education crisis, when students need consistency the most, is trying to reduce budget at the risk
I love @ADDitudeMag but I dissagree with number 4. As a person with and mother of kids with #ADHD and a teacher who #teachadhd I think this is more likely to cause anxiety and an unachievable goal for many kids, especially kids who are non-competitive.
Added to our routine check cards with our nightime routine. My kids have done it for a couple of weeks and already the cards have removed the battle and created habbits. Some days we dont even use the cards and they do the whole thing anyways! Thats how I beat #ADHD
As a mom who also #teachadhd s every day, my favorite moment is seeing my kiddos act out their social skills learning while playing. You truly know they have learned it when they start doing it on their own!
Classroom tip for #ADHD. Your kiddos will react strangely to open space. While it may be crucial to your teaching, too much open space can be overwhelming for some students. Create a cave space near your open teaching area with a desk, table, chir, easel; anything you have.
On #ADHD days like today, when I look around and the tasks are piling up, I utilize my timer. Each task gets 30 mins, and any extra time at the end I have I use to sit down and do what I want to do. Today I am taking chrochet breaks. I will be using this skill when I #teachadhd
Created a morning checklist for the boys! To do on the front and a smiley face on the back. Been doing some #ADHD research for back to school and we are going to start practicing these early! I cant wait to use these when I #teachadhd this year
Its amazing how having one thing go right in my day makes me ready to face the world. Our dishwasher was replaced and now I am ready to clean the entire house! I will have to see if this works with my students when I #teachadhd this year!
What is the biggest question or wish we have as educators or parents of kiddos with #ADHD? For me its them having the skills to achieve happiness with the knowledge that as an adult with ADHD I have to fight for happiness every day. Whats your biggest question?
