According to this post, a disagreement escalated into threats of harm or carjacking. How does someone trying to earn a living suddenly become a target?

What gets me is that the car is also the driver’s livelihood. You’re threatening his safety and the thing he depends on to pay his bills. Meanwhile, he’s stuck wondering whether the person sitting behind him means what he says.

Paying for a ride entitles you to transportation. It doesn’t entitle you to intimidate the person taking you there.
