Based on the results from April, our long-range sanctions have reached a new level across three components: reducing Russia’s oil revenues, as well as the range and intensity of sanctions. It is important that not only is the target itself reached, as defined by the operational objective, but that the downtime of the target is increased or, at the very least, its operations are significantly reduced.

According to the most conservative estimates, since the beginning of the year, the aggressor state has lost at least $7 billion solely as a direct result of our precise sanctions against Russia’s oil industry and refining sector – due to direct hits, downtime, and delays in shipments.

I am grateful to all our warriors of the Defense Forces of Ukraine who, together with the Security Service of Ukraine and our intelligence agencies, are delivering these results. We will scale up our long-range systems capabilities. Decisions are being prepared.

When Ukraine agreed to give up nuclear weapons, the price that the other side had to pay had to be fair. I think NATO membership was the smallest thing leaders of Ukraine had to get in exchange for the nuclear arms. What did we get? Nothing. It was not a fair game, and a big mistake.

Not only a Ukrainian mistake, but also a mistake by other signatories of the Budapest Memorandum. These are nuclear countries. If they asked you to give up nuclear weapons, they should have provided you with a security umbrella. Perhaps a nuclear umbrella.

Ultimately, all of it was a deception. Our nuclear weapons were largely transferred to Russia. For example, strategic aircraft that Russia now uses against us in this war.

@unherd @yanisvaroufakis This is dishonest. Macron took a leading role and made multiple attempts to engage with Putin both before and after the war began. The main issue with the EU at the beginning of the war was that its leaders were still in denial, believing that a deal with Putin was plausible.

In Romania, the Hungarian community largely voted for the pro-EU candidate in the presidential election. They recognized the ugliness of the far right and its hostility toward minority communities. Paradoxically, the same community will vote for Orbán by a margin of over 90%.

Today, my meeting with the President of Romania, @NicusorDanRO, focused primarily on strengthening the energy and economic capacities of both our nations so that together we can do more for the national security of our states.

We are working to expand cross-border energy cooperation – building two new power transmission lines with Romania. Equally important is our ability to pursue projects together in resource extraction on the Black Sea shelf. Today, we also discussed projects in the oil and gas sector that can support us now, including in light of the challenges related to the Middle East. We reviewed opportunities for transporting American LNG to Ukraine via Romania. We are also working to open new border crossing points – and this will be achieved already this summer.

I thank Romania for its principled position throughout all these years of Russia’s full-scale war. Ukraine and Romania are natural strategic partners. The geography of our region, the security challenges we face, and the economic needs of our peoples all point to one conclusion: cooperation between us must only grow stronger.

@panyiszabolcs One community where his propaganda failed was the Hungarian minority in Romania. Over 90% voted for Nicușor Dan, clearly rejecting the far-right candidate George Simion. The same voters will likely support Viktor Orban at similar levels, embracing a far-right leader.
