The Grand Prize bonus threshold (85%) just got hit on Kaggle! This year will be the final year for ARC-AGI-2 on Kaggle and I'm excited we'll get a great open source, cheap, and offline reproducible solution + model as it's final swan song
The purpose of the AI industry should be to produce tools that, in the human hand, will improve human prosperity and welfare.
It should not be to create a "successor species" to the human race. Entertaining such a thought makes you, de facto, the enemy of all present and future humans.
As confirmed earlier through our official channels, in mid-June of this year, we unexpectedly received notice from PlayStation Studios that they would cancel the PHYSINT project. PHYSINT is an important project both to me personally and to KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS. Determined to keep the project alive, we have spent the last three months searching tirelessly for a new partner. In the course of seeking advice and pursuing negotiations with people across many fields, we found in XBOX a partner with whom we share a common vision for the future, and we have decided to team up with them once again. Please rest assured that development of PHYSINT, our genre-defining action-espionage title, is ongoing and will continue moving forward.
An update from PlayStation Studios: After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to step away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT. We continue to have great admiration for Hideo Kojima's vision for the game.
Our relationship remains strong after three decades of industry-leading, genre-defining creative cooperation, and we look forward to continued close collaboration with Hideo Kojima and his award-winning independent studio in the future.
I believe we need to make a deliberate effort to keep humans in the loop in all critical processes across our economy and society, regardless of whether it is technically necessary.
Even if AI develops the *capability* for advanced autonomy, we should not make it highly autonomous. We have to maintain control and keep visibility and understanding of all critical processes, we should not blindly hand over everything to AI agents just because we can. AI as a tool in the human hand is the only form of AI that is worth pursuing.
@paulg They might need some kind of life experience to get good at writing. Maybe something else to draw from other than the ocean of information the internet provides.
In fact programming is particularly good at teaching you how to think. Programs are literally built out of ideas. Which is one reason it's still a good idea to study CS in the AI era. It's still important to be able to think well.
People refuse to go through the process anymore, that's why so many people never make it.
You have to be okay with starting something and the process taking years to finish.
Someone was talking during the opening logos of a movie tonight and me and another person both shushed really loud at the exact same time. We looked at each other like this when I exited the theater at the end.
Recently, I was able to board a flight from a certain country to London and upon getting to the check in counter, I was told that there was a problem. They couldn’t board me because according to them, my UK visa (even though it was months from expiry) was no longer valid.
There was a time when people aspired to higher levels of thought, and deeper understanding and appreciation of the world, and their place in it. These are not irrelevant pursuits, nor will they ever be. Be thoughtful, do your best work, try to leave a good mark on the world.
Vaccines and medicines are often victims of their own success. They work so effectively that, over time, people forget the devastation they were designed to prevent and begin to question their necessity.
In 20 years, vibe coders will look at the Linux kernel repo the way we look at the pyramids. In awe, unable to imagine how they managed to drag all those giant stones and pile them up in the middle of the desert.
