Acting swiftly on technical and human intelligence inputs, the main perpetrator responsible for the attack has been apprehended.

Preliminary investigation reveals the involvement of a foreign-based handler.

Further investigation is underway, and both forward and backward linkages are being thoroughly examined to identify and dismantle the entire network behind the attack.

The SHO and DSP immediately inspected the scene. Our forensic team confirmed the presence of a grenade. In connection with this incident, the police constituted multiple teams. Through a joint operation involving the Punjab Police and its Counter-Intelligence Wing, which entailed a detailed investigation utilising both technical and human intelligence, the main perpetrator, Dharmendra, was apprehended. He is a resident of Agwan village, under the jurisdiction of PS Kalanaur. Furthermore, the name of a foreign handler has surfaced in this matter, and the police are currently conducting a serious and thorough investigation into all relevant facts. #WATCH | Punjab: Gurdaspur SSP Aditya says, "A major breakthrough has been achieved through the coordinated efforts of the Counter Intelligence Wing, regarding the explosives recovered near the Geeta Bhawan Temple on the 27th April... A joint team comprising the Gurdaspur Police and the Counter-Intelligence Wing arrested three individuals identified as Amarjit Billa, Karan, and Satnam... During their interrogation, their involvement in this criminal act was established... The police conducted a search of Amarjit's residence, where they recovered an additional grenade... The police are currently conducting a thorough and in-depth investigation into all these facts."

On the 27th, a grenade recovery was made in Gurdaspur city. Following this, multiple teams worked continuously based on technical inputs and human intelligence. During the operation, three individuals were identified: Amarjeet, Karan, and Satnam. Out of these, two are residents of Jalandhar. All three were found to be linked to the case. One grenade was recovered from Amarjeet’s house. This is considered a major success for the Punjab Police, and all related aspects are being thoroughly identified and investigated..."

In a major breakthrough, Gurdaspur Police in coordination with Counter Intelligence, Punjab solves the grenade case involving a hand grenade recovered on 27.04.2026 near Geeta Bhawan Road, #Gurdaspur, and arrests three accused.

Acting swiftly on technical inputs, CCTV footage, and human intelligence, police identified the accused involved in hurling the hand grenade near the shop premises. During investigation, another hand grenade was also recovered from the residence of one accused.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused were acting on the directions of a foreign-based handler and had received two hand grenades from the handler.

FIR has been registered at PS City, #Gurdaspur under relevant sections of the UAPA & Explosive Substances Act. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages, including foreign handlers and local support networks.
