💬 A message of solidarity from Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz to everyone affected by the floods in Accra. 🙏🏾🇬🇭
Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families and communities during this difficult time.

The amount of rainfall recorded today is among the highest experienced in several years. Preliminary data indicates that approximately 140 millimetres of rain fell on Accra. By comparison, the highest single-day rainfall recorded last year was about 56 millimetres.
That aspect of the problem is beyond our control because it is driven by changing climatic conditions. There is the issue of human behaviour.
Whenever government begins removing structures built in waterways, some people accuse us of being inhumane. Yet when disasters such as today's flooding occur, the consequences affect everyone. The irresponsible actions of a few individuals end up putting entire communities at risk.

HE President John Dramani Mahama speaks after touring the country yesterday.
I joined His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, on the Central Region leg of the nationwide Resetting Tour, which aims to account for Government’s work, engage citizens directly, update them on the progress made across key sectors, and share Government’s plans.
On infrastructure, we highlighted the Big Push agenda, Government’s investment programme designed to connect communities, stimulate economic activity, and create employment. Key projects include the Winneba Interchange, the Kasoa-Winneba Road, the Apam-Winchi Road, and other road projects across the region.
On health, we outlined President Mahama’s vision for achieving Universal Health Coverage through Free Primary Healthcare, to ensure that common illnesses and preventable conditions can be treated at no cost while focusing on preventive healthcare. Government also announced the expansion and equipping of CHPS compounds and polyclinics; 150 facilities are benefiting from the first phase. There are also reforms to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). We further highlighted the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares), which supports patients with non-communicable diseases; the construction of regional hospitals in the newer regions; partnerships to create employment opportunities for Ghanaian health professionals abroad; and the provision of equipment to new health facilities.
The engagement also addressed education and governance reforms, including efforts to eliminate schools under trees, strengthen local government, and advance constitutional reforms through the Constitutional Review Committee. The President reaffirmed Government’s commitment to abolishing the double track system by expanding senior high school infrastructure.
The President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs commended Government for actively involving traditional authorities in governance and expressed appreciation for the development interventions in the region.
In my remarks, I thanked the chiefs and people of the Central Region for their continued partnership and appealed for their sustained support for Government’s programmes. I also encouraged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to regularly account to their communities and give citizens opportunities to provide feedback, so that development remains responsive to local needs.

H. E @JDMahama has cut the sod for Phase II of the Sentuo Oil Refinery, marking a major step in Government’s drive to strengthen industrialisation, energy security, and value addition. The expansion will increase the refinery’s processing capacity from 40,000 to 100,000 barrels per day, create thousands of jobs, and support the nation’s broader economic transformation agenda. H. E emphasized that Ghana’s development strategy is focused on moving beyond the export of raw materials to building a resilient economy that processes, manufactures, and adds value locally.
