@ygkcouple I read where people in northern climates are encouraged by their government to get heat pumps to save electricity, but I’m not convinced. When it’s really cold, I use a $75 oil filled radiator in the bedroom as that’s a constant heat and turn the heat pump off.
@ygkcouple The heat strips will occasionally come on if it’s really cold, but the point of the heat pump is to save money and heat strips absolutely make the meter spin.
We’d get a natural gas furnace if it was available in our area.
@ygkcouple Answering this with a question. Do heat pumps work well in Canada? We live in NW Florida and we get a month or two of below 40 degree F weather and our heat pump sucks. When it’s cold, the unit will run an hour and only barely raise the temp.
@FWAT_Podcast Our first intro to the LS was about 1990 and finding magazines at the local bookstore with nothing but personal ads. Each ad had an ID number. If you wanted to correspond with the couple, you wrote a letter and placed it in a self-addressed envelope which you mailed to the mag.
@ClaireFosterPHD No, what they are saying is have a merry Christmas. So either have one or not, that’s your choice, but you have no say in what someone else wishes for you.
@TomandBunny Our experience, having lived in a tourist area that suffered a similar disaster, the locals definitely need your $. But, pay attention to your destination. If your stay takes housing away from locals or workers needed to rebuild, then stay away. 2/
@TomandBunny Good news for Hedo..
Going forward, there will be two schools of thought. Some will say, visitors should stay away to give locals space to clean up, repair, or rebuild their homes. Others will say, locals need your tourist dollars to be able to do those things. 1/
