BREAKING: Kampala High Court wraps up preliminary hearings for Dr. Kizza Besigye & co-accused on treason charges. Justice Emmanuel Baguma dismissed defense objections over prep time & set trial to start with witness testimonies on June 11, 2026
This made Dr. Besigye fume as he accused the court of being used and dancing to President Museveni’s tune.

#Profile :Hon. Hajjat Minsa Kabanda cemented her place in Kampala politics when she won the Kampala Central parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections, defeating strong opposition contenders after years of grassroots political activism in the capital.
A member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Kabanda has served as Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs since June 2021. Her political journey began at the local level, where she represented Kisenyi as a councillor in Kampala Central Division. Although she lost her first parliamentary bid in 2016, she remained active in city politics, secured the NRM flag unopposed in 2025, and went on to win the Kampala Central seat in 2026.
As minister, Kabanda has championed urban governance reforms aimed at improving infrastructure, traffic management, road networks, vendor regulation and service delivery across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area. She has also promoted youth skilling programmes, entrepreneurship initiatives and business hubs to address unemployment and support economic growth.
Known for her close engagement with communities, Kabanda continues to play a central role in efforts to modernise Kampala and strengthen metropolitan development under President Museveni’s administration.
@EriasLukwago_ said they are ready for a prolonged battle but insist they won’t go into hearing the case until all witness evidence is reviewed. The judge and prosecution, however, want the hearing to proceed immediately.
