Koreans also play games during Seollal. Traditional games include yut nori (a Korean board game), flying kites, and neol ddwigi (Korean seesaw) are the most common Korean games.
Happy Seollal from Adoptee Hub!
Seollal refers to the Korean celebration of the Lunar New Year. Because it is based on the lunar calendar and not the Gregorian calendar, the date changes each year. In 2023, Seollal is observed on January 22 and publicly observed on January 23.
The most common food consumed during Seollal is tteokguk (rice cake soup). Traditionally, consuming tteokguk would age you one year in Korean. Don’t worry though, eating it at other times of the year will not age you!

Hello everyone! Give to the Max 2022 is today! Please consider a donation to Adoptee Hub!
Our first ever Kimchi Festival was held on September 17, 2022. It was the first event of its kind in Minnesota where people could learn to make kimchi and taste different types of kimchi.
Our biggest project, the Global Birth Search Portal, has been put on hold, largely due to lack of funding. Every person with Adoptee Hub volunteers our time and efforts to make Adoptee Hub’s mission a success.
Registration for Adoptee Hub’s Cultural Identity and Self Care Workshop is still open!
If you are attending in person, we are excited to see you in person!
Please be mindful of the address that we are located. We are located at the Hilton Hotel Bloomington, which is at 3900 American Blvd WEST.
There is a Hilton Hotel at 3800 American Blvd EAST. This is NOT the correct address and we are not at that location.
Adoptee Hub will be selling these products during the event. All proceeds from the sales go towards building Adoptee Hub’s core services: birth family search, translation, and counseling services. Funds are also used to put on events like this one.
