Dear Handler,
We appreciate your response and understand the concerns of the beneficiaries.
However, our concern is no longer whether the bursary will be paid. We have received similar assurances on several occasions. What we seek now is a clear, definite, and unequivocal timeline for the disbursement of the approved bursary.
The repeated use of uncertain expressions such as "as soon as possible" has left beneficiaries in a state of anxiety and uncertainty, particularly given the prolonged delay since the bursary was approved.
We therefore respectfully request that, before responding to enquiries on this issue, you kindly make the necessary findings from the relevant authorities so that you can provide beneficiaries with accurate and definitive information.
We believe this is consistent with the transparent and accountable leadership that the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde is known for.
We look forward to receiving a clear update on when the approved bursary will be disbursed, rather than another assurance that it will be paid.
Thank you.
WE DID EVERYTHING RIGHT. OUR BURSARY IS STILL UNPAID.
On 24th November 2025, eligible Oyo State indigenes at the Nigerian Law School submitted applications for the 2025 Oyo State Nigerian Law School Bursary with great hope that the support promised by the Oyo State Government would ease the financial burden of legal education.
For months, the 2025 Oyo State Nigerian Law School Bursary Committee maintained constant engagement with the Chairman and Secretary of the Oyo State Scholarship Board, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, the leadership of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union, and other relevant government officials.
After months of follow up, our efforts yielded results when His Excellency, Governor @seyimakinde , graciously approved the bursary.
Afterwards, we were invited for documentation exercise to further verify the identity of all prospective beneficiaries.
Unfortunately, after 4 months of public approval of the bursary by Governor @seyimakinde and a successful verification exercise by all prospective beneficiaries the bursary remained undisbursed.
This is not an attack on the Government of Governor @seyimakinde but a call for accountability and fulfilment of a well-meaning pledge.
This is a sincere appeal from young legal practitioners who have fulfilled every obligation placed before them and have patiently waited for the release of an approved bursary.
We respectfully appeal to the Ministry of Finance @iamakinolaojo ,the Office of the Accountant General, @KikelomoAdegoke , the Ministry of Education, and all relevant authorities involved in the disbursement process to kindly expedite the disbursement of the approved bursary.
We also call on alumni, student leaders, civil society organisations, the media, and well meaning Nigerians to lend their voices to this appeal. We ask only that what has been approved be paid without further delay. @FeedbackOYSG@oyostategovt@Oyomindnews@theayoadams@freshfmibadan
We did everything right.
We have waited patiently.
The bursary has been approved.
Now is the time for disbursement!!!!
Signed:
2025 Oyo State Nigerian Law School Bursary Committee
Respectfully sir, It's been over a month that you said the same thing, therefore our worry is these agitations do not get to the room that can actually make a difference, for this reason we think our lobbying for more than a year has been for nothing @seyimakinde@oyostategovt
