USWNT striker and Olympic gold medalist Mallory Swanson explains why kids should play multiple sports growing up 🗣️
“I personally think that it's very important for kids to play multiple sports and not just one,” she said.
“Obviously I did soccer year round, but I also sprinkled in basketball and track.”
“I learned so much from those sports and I also had so much fun doing those sports too. And then that kept soccer fun as well.”
Born and raised in Colorado, Swanson played youth soccer at Real Colorado.
Although she was reportedly set to join UCLA, she ended up skipping college entirely and went straight to pro in 2017.
Now 27, she is a World Cup winner as well as an Olympic gold medalist. She’s also won eight more trophies with the USWNT.
The striker recently welcomed a daughter of her own and is embracing the mom life.
