Thanks to @cpipr for their work on #Philly's 🇵🇷 community and health disparities. That's my Dad on the cover. I am quoted as well as @AdrianRiveraPhD, @CharitoGuaja and others. RIP Mom, who spent much of her career helping people access services:

We are grateful for the work done by a coalition of organizations in Chinatown to create an anti-displacement proposal and we support this plan to get a better deal for Chinatown – one that was developed by and for the community.
@ruephilacouncil and I have been in touch with community advocates for months, and throughout the hearings, we've asked critical questions, and have been working for a better deal. We hope the City will adopt this proposal and craft a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) that will serve the community’s needs and mitigate the impacts of an arena development, the effects of which we still don’t know.

"Building this arena comes at the expense of our future. Do you know what we could do with $10 million a year in North Philly." @AdrianRiveraPhD#NoArena
THREAD: A HARSH TRUTH AND REALITY: Y’all, Philadelphia City Council has been playing in our faces.
That 76ers Arena is going to unfortunately happen – unless there is some emergency Christmas miracle of common sense and humanity. Please stop thinking they are conflicted or unaware – most of them are going with the flow and BEEN complicit in this decision.
Our two Philly Boricuas members, Fermin Morales and Michael Collazo published this article in Impacto today talking about Puerto Rico’s upcoming elections and the potential for independence ❇️🇵🇷

10 years ago today I moved from Puerto Rico to #Philly
I miss my family and the island, but I’m so grateful to this city for so much, especially the community I’ve built.
Philly has allowed me to come into myself & seen me become a homeowner. I love Philly & Philadelphians!
I will never back down in speaking truth to power.
The apartheid government of Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians. Palestinians will not be erased. Solidarity with all those outside of these walls in the streets protesting and exercising their right to dissent.
WE WON! This week, over 2000 Penn grad workers cast ballots. After eligible votes were tallied, the final count was 1807 to 97. It's official. The majority of eligible voters turned out to the polls. Penn graduate workers have resoundingly declared: WE WANT A UNION AT PENN!
Watching everything that’s happening as a Gen Z-Millennial cusp (born in ‘96), I see what’s happening to youth on college campuses as, on top of everything else, the logical end point of decades of neglect of and vitriol towards children and young adults. 🧵🪡
Remember, the NYPD is doing this knowing that everyone is watching and that Columbia is an Ivy League school.
Now just imagine what they do every day in neighborhoods where the press isn’t watching. Exactly.
