Demonstration yesterday #Mauritius (7 months after controversial election).
#COVID19 used to install a form of dictatorship and dismantle:
>people's rights
>worker's rights
>rights to old age pension
High cost of living
Squandering public fund
Neocolonialism
Corrupted politics
Mauritians once more are fed up with the incompetent government and prime minister who keep delaying tactics to initiate investigation into the #Wakashio#MauritiusOilSpill turning a deaf ear to population. The people want their resignation.
#protests#mauritiusoildisaster
#Protests resume in #Mauritius today. As controversies and political scandals continue to affect the country, many #citizens in the streets again march against the a form of dictatorship by the government with the #COVID19 and Quarantine Act.(Public protests began July 11 2020)
#MauritiusOilDisaster
"Lev paké alé"(pack your stuff and leave/resign) could be heard in the streets from this pacific demonstration while the cheap and irrelevant arguments of the a few pro government supporters faded out
#maurevolution
Approx.100k in #Mauritius#protest again against a less honorable PM and his government who failed the whole population by hiding the truth on a series of scandalous decisions, inactions and lies.Citizens as one people as one nation ask for their resignation
#MauritiusOilSpill
The incompetent government is beating about the bush, not to mention the rubbish talk of its honorable ministers everyday. Still no transparency on the #MauritiusOilSpill enquiry and precipitated scuttling of MV #Wakashio

@ZJoomaye@SebLecornu Why wasn’t @oilspillexperts activated? Apparently they were on standby as of August 6, awaiting approval from your country. Had they airlifted response equipment from either their Southampton or their Singapore depot, no doubt a lot of #Wakashio damage could have been prevented.

@BBCAfrica The authorities have warned????
Are you kidding @BBCAfrica
They did almost nothing for 12 days, except claiming that everything was under control. This is an ecological and political disaster
