He was a legend and we all loved him and my god are we going to miss him. Sleep well EJ and thank you for making all of our lives so much better for having known you x
I grew up on a Council Estate and never once questioned my parents income, it was never a discussion.
We didn’t eat a lot of fast food because it was considered a treat, not a food group.
We ate homemade meals consisting of meat, potatoes and vegetables - (which were not an optional choice). No vegetables, no dessert!!!
We grew up during a time when we mowed lawns, pulled weeds, babysat, helped neighbours with chores to be able to earn our own money.
We by no means were given everything we wanted.
We went outside a lot to play, ride bikes, run with friends, play hide and seek, or went swimming.
We rarely just sat inside.
Bottled water was unheard of.
If we had a coke, it was in a glass bottle and we didn’t break the bottle when finished.
We saved it and cashed it back in at the shops for a sweet.
After school, we came home and did homework and chores, before going outside or having friends over.
We would ride our bikes for hours.
We had to tell our parents where we were going, who we were going with and be home when the street lights came on!
You LEARNED from your parents instead of disrespecting them and treating them as if they knew absolutely nothing.
What they said was LAW and you did not question it and you had better know it!
We watched what we said around our elders because we knew if we DISRESPECTED any grown-up, we would get a real telling off, it wasn’t called abuse, it was called discipline!
We held doors, carried the shopping and gave up our seat for an older person without being asked.
You didn’t hear swear words on the radio in songs or TV.
“Please and Thank you”, were part of our daily vocabulary! 💯
The world we live in now is just so full of people who hate and disrespect others.
Consider Re-posting if you’re thankful for your childhood.
I will never forget where I came from and only wish children nowadays had half the chance at the fun and respect for real life we grew up with!
And we were never ever ever ever bored 💯
Please read and share if you are as frustrated as I am...
Not long ago, Britain was a world-leader across all aspects of cancer care - diagnosis, treatment and research. Now? We are the sick man of Europe.
Thousands and thousands of patients experiencing horrific delays just to get diagnosed, with our survival rates reflecting this.
Politicians from all parties pontificate with the usual confected outrage, but when it comes to delivering change it’s the same old story - all talk, no action.
Whilst countless patients endure such torturous delays, three advanced cancer facilities remain unused in Reading, Newport and Northumberland. I can honestly say that these centres are amongst the very best I have seen anywhere in the world, yet our establishment is happy for them to remain empty? It is a national scandal.
Throughout my half a century in medicine, I have never been so disappointed. This network has the capacity to help 20,000 patients a year, with some of the most advanced equipment known to man - including proton beam therapy, a state-of-the-art treatment that can drastically reduce side-effects and significantly improve the quality of life for patients.
Charities, politicians and commentators will all bemoan the state of UK cancer care, yet almost nobody has lifted a finger to help open these centres. Here is a ready-made solution that could deliver results for patients almost overnight. Why on earth aren’t we grabbing it with both hands?
Countries across the world are desperately scrambling around to build proton capable facilities - I know, I am advising many of them. But in broken Britain, we are content to let three of these sites rot away at a time of record delays.
The NHS claims that these centres do not meet their requirements, but speaking honestly this is a flat-out mistruth. The machines within the centres are of the highest quality and used throughout the world. When the network was operating, all three centres had contracts with local NHS Trusts.
They also suggested that there were no senior consultants overseeing treatment and that we had no participation with academic centres - both entirely untrue.
Even removing the Proton Beam Therapy, there is still a vast amount of expensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy equipment unused, with diagnostic capacity on top of that.
The individuals within the NHS and Department of Health pushing these falsehoods are either actively lying, or understand nothing about oncology.
If we are serious about overturning the awful state of British cancer care, let's start with reopening these three magnificent facilities.
This is surely an objective we can all share.
@SkySportsF1 What about each team’s reserve driver taking part in the sprint races alongside one of the full time driver on rotation. The reserve driver will gain actual race experience and a “reserve team driver sprint championship”?
A national scandal.
Despite 20,000 cancer patients standing to benefit a year, the NHS has shown zero interest in reopening three advanced cancer centres which currently lie empty.

@GIrwinRacing All the best for Brands to both of you, you have made it one hell of a championship. I’m sure you can both sit down with the Bird family after the championship and have a drink because you all deserve it at team PBM.
