A Tibetan climate activist shared an emotional story about how Chinese occupation of Tibet has kept Tibetan people from participating in COP negotiations. She pleaded for an equal voice for stateless people as they, too, contribute significanlty to mitigation & adaptation. #COP27

In sessions I've attended at #COP27 about early warning systems (EWS), panelists are high ranking gov't officials w/ broad statements about the needs of communities & EWS. But where are the community members? It's a shame we haven't heard from people who directly interact w/ EWS.

Panel at @SouthSouthNorth sesh discussed financing locally-led climate action. Communities must have easy & direct access to financing w/o complex systemic or administrative barriers. Financing must also be predictable and transparent in order to uphold accountability. #COP27

During #ResistancetoPower youth sesh at #COP27 yesterday, @Ayishas12 importantly noted that Article 6.4 is being pitched by the US as a carbon removal mechanism, but it will almost certainly result in Indigenous land-grabbing and greenwashing.

Indigenous leaders’ message to negotiators at #COP27: Pay up on loss and damage. Stop fossil fuel mining. Respect the rights of human beings & nature. Listen to the demands of people on the ground & act with a sense of urgency. If you don’t, all of us will not survive.

Today we found out that the fossil fuel industry has 636.

This is unacceptable.
