@andyshrove@D9609D@J_Gallagher4CA We have a constitutional requirement for a balanced budget in California so an increased budget means increased revenues. Reserve funds provide cushion, but unlike the feds we can’t just spend now and have future generations figure out how to pay for it. Takes a lot is not a lie.
@itsrosesm There is no movement, it’s well-marketed make believe. The wealthy and powerful stay wealthy and powerful, and continue feeding the war machine while distracting and dividing the peons with pointless culture war garbage.
@D9609D@J_Gallagher4CA It doesn’t help the other party score political points if they acknowledge what the other tribe accomplishes, so you won’t hear about all the things government does well. I will say I’m damn curious to know the facts about what the hell went so sideways with High Speed Rail. WTF?
@D9609D@J_Gallagher4CA To answer your question, I think California government does a lot more right than wrong. We live in a very large and complex state. It takes a lot to maintain 400k miles of roads, plus water treatment systems, communications infrastructure, power grids, wildfire prevention, etc.
@D9609D@J_Gallagher4CA Don’t forget top 5 for household income. Also, we’re not managing a flat, unpopulated state filled with prairie grass. It takes a lot to protect & operate a large state with more infrastructure & resources. It’s ok to acknowledge that protecting California’s beauty isn’t free.
