Here are the facts: the 7 states where 2/3 of Americans don't have a passport. All of them are red states: West Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Yes, that's your home state, Scott.
Married women whose married names aren't on their birth docs would face extra hurdles. Just because you don't care, doesn't mean it isn't a real issue.
It took 17 years for Real ID (with similar citizenship requirements in some states) to actually be implemented in the US. Do YOU think that's because Americans are "too dumb" to figure it out?
Oh and BTW, according to the SAVE ACT, most Real IDs wouldn't count.
❄️ The Blizzard of 1996 — began 30 years ago today ❄️
An unforgettable storm. 16-32" of snow buried the DC area as one of the most prolific snowstorms on record blasted from North Carolina to Massachusetts.
The National Weather Service called it “widely regarded at the time for being the greatest amount of snow seen by the largest concentration of population in the United States.” 🌨️
And it didn’t stop there. Two additional snow events followed over the next five days, keeping snow cover deep and relentless across the region.
Then came the flip. 🌡️
A powerful January thaw triggered rapid snowmelt and led to historic flooding on the Potomac River — a dramatic reminder of how quickly winter can turn.
What do you remember from the Blizzard of ’96?

To this point … we’ve reported that DoD briefers told lawmakers during classified briefing in late October they do not know how to gauge success in the ongoing military operation or know if there’s any data/metrics that would show the strikes are impeding flow of drugs.

A K-File investigation has unearthed #FCC chair Brendan Carr's long history of staunchly defending free speech, once accusing democrats of a “chilling transgression of free speech” when it came to government pressure on media companies. That's a sharp contradiction to his recent threat over “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” K-File's Andrew Kaczynski reports on #OutFrontCNN

Even when Section 740 is lawfully invoked, the Home Rule Act keeps operational control of MPD with the Mayor and Chief, and the President must request MPD services through the Mayor.
In DC's 52 years of Home Rule, no President has tried invoking this authority.
Until this week.
The federal government's power over DC is not absolute, and it should not be exercised as such.
Section 740 of the Home Rule Act permits the President to request MPD's services.
But it can only be done temporarily, for special emergencies, and solely for federal purposes.
