Wanna radically improve #mentalhealth? Give people housing. End poverty. Promote food security. Be anti-racist. Fund harm reduction. Offer workers paid sick days. Provide equitable healthcare (especially mental healthcare) to all...Equity IS mental health. ๐๐ฝ

I am a HUGE supporter of locally owned businesses in our community. But if you complain/send in requests for services due to someone experiencing homelessness outside your shop cause it's a "bad look." I will no loner support you, your shop or your ignorance.
So tired of losing more people every fucking day to overdose. This opioid crisis has been around way before Covid and will be after. What more does this city need to see as evidence to do something. Open a safe consumption site now.
When they cut down trees to prevent people experiencing homelessness from a spot to sleep in hopes of "solving an issue." Aka shoving people somewhere else not "solving" anything. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Yes, a โsuccessful recovery storyโ can be a 41 year old individual who achieved complete sobriety for 7 years. A โsuccessful recovery storyโ can also be a 27 year old who maintained their โonly use meth on weekendsโ goal for 1 week.
Adult things of the day. 1. called my doctor to talk about my depression and FINALLY stop avoiding/try medication. 2. getting a hand tattoo tonight cause it's self care and can't wait for people's judgment on what I do with my own body. ๐
When you hear that an unhoused person โrefused servicesโ that includes...
- refused to give up their pet to get a short-term hotel room
- the shelter they were offered a space in isnโt safe for their gender/sexuality
- couldnโt consolidate all their belongings into two bags
Can confidently say we are all burnt out. It's not a competition, we are all working our asses off. It's nice to see agencies come together to work on housing individuals with multiple supports and reduce the bullshit red tape. This is the stuff I love to see in our community. ๐
