@brennschlus@tsoding I can't tell if ffmpeg is an exception to Tsoding's tweet. On the one hand, it IS a language. On the other hand, it is a *different* language than the common one.
No, I think it is not an acception. the tweet was about args conforming to any and all languages
@brennschlus@tsoding Absolutely. There's a consistent (if extensive) grammar. ffmpeg is cool because it has it's own grammar. As you probably know, many disparate programs share a common arg parsing grammar, even if they don't use the same library!
@tsoding Well, Declarative >>> parsing strings if you want someone else to do all the "boring" work for you. If you're writing a game or a video encoding library, string/arg parsing is boring. If you're writing the best fucking string/arg parsing library ever, string/arg parsing is rad
@tsoding param - this is just a function call in powershell. And IT IS THE BEST. Entirely declarative. And while in a powershell shell, tab completion will be able to de-reference these blocks into intelligence. Type '--<tab> 'and see what happens. Declarative >>> parsing strings.
@tsoding Btw, no `-` for short opts is AKA "BSD-style options" way.
ps is such a simple and useful tool that many people reinvented it, and it eventually different stuff got consolidated. People (and scripts) wanted to use it how it was familiar though, so both languages were supported.
Diamonds are measured in "carats" (1 Carat == 200 grams, this is a measure of mass).
Gold is measured in "karats" (Karats are how many parts per 24 are gold. 12K is 50% gold, 24K is pure gold)
Outside of the United States, karat is usually spelled carat.
@code_report I drew a graph of the branching BQN pipeline and the stack of the linear Uiua solution. This is like, a supplement for this video.

I think the BEST way to do this is to have combinators and those higher order functions be nodes in a visual graph!! Or at least not force everything in a multi layered pipeline to be on the same line! Uiua is sure solving it one way, though.
Wow lol. How would I apply the unification of simple crocheting and hyperbolic crocheting with this stitch. Itβs like a new dimension of pattern. Maybe I should try to hit up one of Conwayβs students. https://t.co/HX76Hn1Y7M
I just spent 100 minutes writing a Twitter thread on crocheting inspired by a few YouTube videos. Iβm proud of my thoughts and probably my writing (not gunna proof read it)
But what the fuuuuuck thatβs really weird. Lol. It was fun tho.
