When I wanted to get married, I made a deliberate decision: I never took the engagement list given to me by my in-laws to my family members. I handled everything myself because I knew the kind of relationship and boundaries I wanted to establish from the beginning. I didn’t want a situation where my family would eventually start referring to my wife as “iyawo wa.”
A few years ago, we had a family function, and they requested that my wife come a day before the event after I had already contributed my share for the olópọ̀s. I said no.
I always remind my family: my wife is my wife, not “our wife.”
Setting boundaries in marriage requires a lot of responsibility from the man. You cannot expect your wife to have peace and independence in the marriage if you are constantly allowing your family to cross boundaries.
Sometimes, being the man of the house means having the courage to say NO, even when saying it may not make everyone happy.
I was on call in a private hospital when one of my nurses developed abdominal pains.
I ran around despite resistance from the hospital's admin to ensure she got an Ultrasound (they wanted her to pay first!).
Results showed Acute Appendicitis. This private hospital refused to book her in for urgent surgery until she made a deposit of 750K (Ps-She works here and her salary is less than 180K).
We mobilized her and sent her with another nurse to a government hospital. She went to 4 different government hospitals and 'No bed space' was all they said and turned them back (not even minding she was a nurse!).
I had to ask them to bring her back to the private hospital where she finally had the surgery after myself and 3 other nurses including the patient signed to have deductions from our salaries till the debt was paid.
She had a ruptured appendix when we finally went in which changed the surgery from a simple appendectomy to an Ex-Lap. 750k became 1.6M and we had to pay it for 5 months till it was completed. She is fine now but just putting this out here.
Just a heads-up for anyone else reading this: if this ever happens to your little one, please never use a cotton swab to try and pull it out. It is a natural instinct to try, but it almost always pushes the object further back, which can cause them to choke if it drops into their throat.
Instead, doctors recommend a trick called the "Mother's Kiss."
You just hold the unblocked nostril completely closed with your finger, place your mouth over theirs to make a tight seal, and give a quick, sharp puff of air into their mouth.
The air pressure travels up and pops the object right out of the clogged nose like a cork.
It works so well and is way safer than trying to dig it out.
Things are happening in this Lagos o and it’s unfair to law abiding citizens. If you don’t mix with people, you won’t hear things.
Between Ketu and Mile 12, these boys snatch phones inside traffic. They jump to snatch phones inside BRT. They pickpocket at Mile 12 and Ketu. If you try to hustle bus to Ikorodu thinking you are struggling with fellow passengers, phones ti lor.
Some days ago, two women were pickpocketed at Mile 12 losing 3 phones while rushing bus. Two iPhone 12 pro and one 13 pro max. They didn’t even know until one was looking for hers and told the other to switch on her phone torch for her 😭😭
Thank God, they got to the area and the tracking started. Someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone helped them to enter Mile 12 deepest home of bad boys. They paid 20 for connection and they were to pay 50k each on the phones if they can find it.
This is no joke, over 50 phones were brought out. Over 50 iPhones and theirs were not even there. The bad guys had to agree that it’s another sect that carried out the operation and their phones should already be in Mushin. They had to reach out to the buyer from Mushin who tried but from the many phones with him, none belonged to them. He already told them he will only release each phone at 100k. Certainly, the phones were in the hands of another sect.
The crime ring is very deep. These boys have buyers who will sell the phones in pieces. While they were still inside the lungu, boys came in with iPhone 13 and 15 pro max that they just snatched. Another victim 😭.
These boys are everywhere. Mushin, Ikorodu Garage, Mile 12, Ketu, Mile 2, Alakija, Oshodi, everywhere but they have standby buyers.
We don’t have government who will help us. They do all these in front of Mile 12 police station and nobody will do anything.
Be security conscious because you have no one. Hold your phone in your hand when you struggle for bus. 🙏🙏
Last week, I went to visit a family friend at her shop, and while we were talking, she called her 7-year-old daughter to get a bottle of Coke from the fridge. The little girl grabbed the bottle, slipped, and dropped it. The bottle shattered everywhere.
As I got up to ask if she was okay, she immediately got up, ignored the broken glass around her, ran out of the shop, and started crying. Her mother was livid. She called her back into the shop to face the consequences and yelled some hurtful words at her.
I helped clean up the mess and asked the child to stay outside because her mom was so upset. Then I asked the mother why she was so angry. She said the girl was too playful. I told her I had been watching and that the child wasn’t playing at all; she simply slipped and fell.
She repeated that the girl was always too playful. I acknowledged that she might be, but that wasn’t why the Coke dropped. I saw what happened: it was clear that she slipped.
I then asked her to try to understand the difference between a child being playful and an accident happening. After all, she could have dropped the bottle, too, if she had slipped. I reminded her that while our children can sometimes be playful, accidents happen, and they are still just kids.
We shouldn’t beat or punish them for every mistake. Sometimes, we need to talk to them instead.
Imagine being so afraid of your parent that you run over broken glass just to avoid being punished. What if she had slipped again and gotten seriously hurt? All over a mistake that could happen to anyone.
I understand that parenting is hard and can be exhausting, but we need to stop taking our frustrations out on our children. It’s not okay.
She was quiet for most of the conversation because I was upset, too. Later, she wanted to use food as a way of apologizing, asking her, “Come here, I know you are hungry. What would you like to eat?” but I insisted that she talk to her daughter instead. I wanted the child to understand that it was just an accident and to hear from her mother that accidents happen.
Sometimes, that’s what children need most, not punishment, but understanding.
So, my fellow parents, please and please and please. These kids are just kids. Their brains are just developing, and they need our help, support, and guidance through these stages. Do not blame and punish them for everything.
I would I have told her Breast Milk and gave an elaborate explanation of how drinking a pack of Peak milk every week, is passed onto the baby through my breast milk and made the baby bones strong….. let her nourish herself well because if nutrients were getting to her brain she won’t be asking stupid questions.
I have two to share
It’s not really hack o and it’s for iPhone 6-14 pro max users
1. The moment you discover that your charging port is shaking, just look for a needle or pin, insert it to the charging port and remove all the dirts inside
Don’t worry, your charging port is safe
My condolences to the family of the deceased, and may her soul rest in peace.
Mistakes can happen in surgery, even in the best centres, because medicine is practised by human beings, and human beings are fallible.
However, some errors are considered “never events” in standard hospitals because systems have been designed specifically to prevent them.
The chances of retained surgical instruments have reduced drastically over the years, now estimated at about 0.0017%, with the introduction of surgical safety protocols and operative checklists routinely used worldwide.
Patients and relatives also have a right to ask questions about these things.
If your loved one is going for surgery, ask about the hospital’s safety protocols.
Ask if a surgical safety checklist is used.
You deserve to know the systems protecting the life placed on that operating table.
Statistically, these complications may be rare, but they are important nonetheless because even if the incidence is 1 in 1,500, to that family, it is 100%.
A husband may never see his wife again.
Children may have to grow up without their mother.
Parents may bury a child they expected to outlive them.
That is why a good surgeon will never take these things lightly.
Regulation also matters because when healthcare becomes dominated by quackery, poor systems, and profit without accountability, patients suffer first, and the public often cannot tell the difference between a quack and a skilled healthcare worker until tragedy happens.
Once again, may her soul rest in peace.
Same with my in-laws too😂
I'm the one always gisting my husband about anything we discuss and he'll he like "when did they tell you all this? Why didn't they tell me too? It's like I'm not even their child anymore, it's like they've forgotten me "
He'll sometimes want to call them but I'll tell him not to call at that moment coz they're busy doing this or that and he'll be shocked at how I know so much 😂
REPOST THIS MASSIVELY!
hyperemesis gravidarum could be so dangerous. It could cause clots to form in your legs and lungs and can kill.
dear hospitals in Nigeria, when you admit a pregnant woman with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (excessive vomiting in pregnancy)... make sure you give her appropriate blood thinners and Ted stockings!.
many unexplained deaths in Nigeria is from blood clots in legs and lungs.
During Professor Balogun’s tenure as VC, it was clear as day that the green lawn was more important than our studentship.
If you cross the lawn, you will graduate the next hour.
They will dress you in gown and call the whole school to come and do hip-hip-hop hurray for you 🤣
When you’re pregnant, please take care of yourself. Go to your prenatal appointments, rest as much as you can and be kind to yourself because you’re doing something truly incredible.
Ps: Not looking “nice” is okay. You are more than enough just as you are to your family and friends and most especially your little, growing baby. Your health and wellness should be a greater priority.
Sending so much love to every pregnant woman. May your journey end with rejoicing and may your delivery and post partum be complication free and as smooth as possible.
I went to get chicken from my customer yesterday and she looked so pale and sad.
I had to ask her, mummy kilode.
She narrated that she went to market 2 days ago and bought different stuff to stock together with 10 cartons of chicken.
She then chartered a Danfo to help her bring it to her shop.
While the Danfo was about to reach a check point, he told the woman that they will be stopped by the police, that she should come down and walk past the checkpoint, that he will wait at the front for her.
Lo and behold guys, he ran away o.
He drove off and left her stranded.
10 cartons of frozen chicken plus other stuffs, gone like that.
If a driver tells you to come down bcos y’all are approaching a checkpoint, no gree o
Remain seated or they will run away with your goods.
Telling every pregnant girl I know who's planning on having a natural unmediated birth to eat pineapples, dates, drink red raspberry leaf tea, and walk a lot to prepare/ soften your cervix, I did this and I was only in labor for 30 minutes, got my baby out in ONE push and didn't rip at all,
I was up walking a hour after giving birth.
Did you know that women who reduce carbs and sugar intake in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy have shortened labor(from 12hrs to 2hrs) and reduced labor pains by about 90%???
It’s crazy how processed foods create unnecessary challenges in what nature designed to be a seamless process.

Many filling station attendants are thieves.
Fuel is 1260n/lt so I top of regularly. Today I left home early so I could top up my fuel.
I drove to a filling station and as I stopped, 2 attendants were on a pump. I told the guy with the nuzzle and to the hearing of the second guy I wanted 20k fuel.
The nuzzle guy beckoned on his other colleague to bring the pos. The guy brought the pos and he punched an amount into the pos. Before putting my pin I noticed it was 4k he typed when I know I said clearly to their hearing I wanted 20k top up.
At the same time while I was trying get the correct amount on the pos, the nuzzle guy had quickly put 4k fuel in my car.
This 4k thing between these two attendants was a little fishy and my antenna immediately was alert. I clearly told them 20k. So why are both of them bent on dispensing only 4k for me.
I knew this trick sha very well. They wanted to distract me while they put not as much fuel in my car.
I told the pos guy to correct the amount to 20k, while also telling the nuzzle guy to complete the 20k fuel.
The pos guy was taking forever to punch 20k to distract me, but my corner eye was on the nuzzle guy dispensing the fuel into my car.
The nuzzle guy pretended to touch the pump display but didn't zero the pump, he quickly continued dispensing fuel into my car.
He stopped at 16k. He was like he had put 4k before.
People of God, if not for the grace of God I would have headbutt that guy and removed his 4 front teeth. But then I said it's just 4k this guy wants to steal this morning, let me act matured.
I looked him straight up and told him he didn't zero the meter and I was watching him. I told him to put the remaining fuel calmly.
He was shocked. I told him I was watching him all along. He knew he had been caught and he quickly dispensed the remaining 4k fuel.
My greatest bitterness is that, these two pump attendants are people who are supposed to be fasting... I didn't want to be the reason someone lost his job today.
Be careful out there guys.
