The world runs on carbon-based materials. They move goods, power industries, package products, and support modern life. The challenge is that many of them become difficult to process, transport, or reuse.
That is where Aduro is focused.
Our Hydrochemolytic™ Technology unlocks new value from plastic waste, heavy crude, bitumen, and renewable oils, by restructuring the complex hydrocarbon chains into simpler building blocks for new, higher-value materials.
Across plastics, petroleum, and renewables, Aduro is advancing chemistry designed to make more from the resources already around us.

In recent months, much of the conversation around Aduro has focused on Hydrochemolytic™️ Technology for the chemical recycling of waste plastics and the upgrading of bitumen and highly paraffinic crudes.
A new peer-reviewed paper brings renewed attention to another area of Aduro research: renewable oils.
Published in Sustainable Energy & Fuels, the study examines the thermocatalytic conversion of fatty acids and renewable oils into aromatic hydrocarbons, including BTEX, using a MoOx/HZSM-5 catalyst in a continuous fixed-bed reactor — without added molecular hydrogen.
For Aduro, this work is important because it supports the broader technical foundation behind our renewables upgrading research. It explores pathways for transforming renewable oils and waste-derived lipid feedstocks into higher-value fuels and chemical intermediates, while continuing to build scientific depth around applications that complement Aduro’s patent-backed chemistry portfolio.
From chemical recycling of waste plastics to bitumen and highly paraffinic crude upgrading to renewable chemistry, the common thread is clear: applying specific chemistry to lower-value feedstocks and creating pathways to more useful materials.
The paper was co-authored by Satyam Dixit and Craig Piacek, PhD students at @WesternU, together with Professor Paul A. Charpentier of Western University’s Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. Aduro contributors include Marcus Trygstad, Principal Scientist; Anil Kumar Jhawar, Chief Scientist; and Birendra Adhikari, Head of R&D.

Recent bench-scale testing with Uinta Basin wax crude showed promising reductions in wax content, producing crude that remained stable at ambient conditions.
Today, we announce that Aduro has joined the @UtahPetroleum Association – a membership that brings us closer to producers, refiners, and midstream operators across Utah’s Uinta Basin – where paraffinic crude production presents long-standing transport and refinery compatibility challenges.
As we advance our petroleum applications program, this membership gives us a direct channel to engage with industry and evaluate how Hydrochemolytic™ Technology may fit within existing production, transport, and processing infrastructure.

From the lab bench to the pilot plant.
Aduro was pleased to host Richard Schofield, Director of Infrastructure Projects at Éco Entreprises Québec (ÉEQ), at our London facility last week for an update on Hydrochemolytic™ Technology and a walk-through of our Next Generation Process pilot plant.
ÉEQ now manages curbside recycling for approximately 99% of Quebecers under the province’s Extended Producer Responsibility framework and is helping lead important work in Canada on flexible plastics, including the PRFLEX initiative and the development of modern sorting infrastructure for films and multi-layer packaging.
That progress raises an important next question: what recycling pathway can support the polyolefin streams that mechanical recycling cannot economically process?
That is exactly the challenge HCT was designed to address.
Thank you to Richard for making the trip, and to Dr. Birendra Adhikari, John Noël, and Jan-Willem Lamberink-Ilupeju for hosting the conversation.

We are on the ground at @PRS_Europe 2026, where Europe’s plastics recycling value chain comes together to discuss the technologies, policies, partnerships, and market conditions shaping circular materials.
Representing Aduro, @EricAppelm6595 and Stefanie Steenhuis are participating actively in meetings with European industry participants, supporting ongoing engagement related to FOAK project development at @Chemelot, downstream integration requirements, and alignment with regional regulatory and market conditions.
Great to connect with Annemiek Mooij and Jan Lemmers, and to continue conversations tied to the innovation ecosystem around @BL_Chemelot Campus and Chemelot.
We also joined members of @ChemRecEurope as they launch their #EveryPlantCounts campaign, drawing attention to the importance of maintaining the policy mandates currently in place. Pictured with Laura Cramer, CCO of @BlueAlp_NL, and Steve Mahon, CEO of @MuraTechnology.
As Aduro advances its planned FOAK industrial project at Chemelot, European connections remain central to building the relationships, regulatory alignment, and market understanding needed to support the next stage of commercialization.
