GFP Opposes ‘One Nation, One Election’

A Goa Forward Party delegation led by Vice President Dilip Prabhudesai, Adv. Ashma, Dr. Renuka Dennis Da Silva and Joint Secretary Vikas Bhagat urged the Joint Parliamentary Committee to reject the One Nation, One Election Bills in their present form, stating they undermine federalism and dilute Goa’s independent political voice.

So many student deaths at the BITS Pilani Goa institute in just one year expose a shocking failure of crime control, campus safety, and mental health support. This is not an “incident”, it’s a pattern that demands a serious independent investigation. How can young lives be lost inside a premier institute without accountability? Every death is a question mark on the system’s conscience.

During our President Vijai Sardesai's taluka-wise outreach programme, he discovered that 40 Goan postmen, who had served for 15–20 years on daily wages, were removed, replaced by 50 outsiders from Maharashtra who couldn’t even pronounce the names of Goan villages.

What is happening to our Goa?

One recruit admits paying ₹3.5L for the job.
Corruption has reached Central Engine!

CM Dr. Pramod Sawant was approached 3 times. No action has been hitherto taken. Goa CM should fulfil assurance to mitigate the plight of these 40 Goemkars and not only speak about prospective steps.

Indoco Pharma has once again advertised interviews outside Goa for jobs based in Goa.

They are repeat offenders, knowingly bypassing Goan youth and treating locals as if they don’t exist. And this government is too weak & too complicit to stop them. Last year they were forced to cancel similar interviews after our intervention.

We are putting Indoco and the @GovtofGoa on notice. If you think Goemkars can be taken for granted, think again.

We will not stay silent while our youth are denied the right to work in their own land. If this insult continues, we will be compelled to take the law into our own hands and shut the gates of any company that excludes Goans.

FEELING INVIGORATED AFTER A STIMULATING SESSION WITH SOME EXCEPTIONALLY SHARP STUDENTS FROM ACROSS INDIA. Thoroughly enjoyed my interaction with the Chhatra Sansad @CsIndiaOfficial, comprising of students from all across India, drawn from the IITs, IIMs, National Law College, CBIT, IIFT, and BITS. I spent an enlightening, thought provoking, and introspective two hours with them, fielding their questions on public policy, governance, politics, and on local issues like Goa tourism and social affairs. As a politician, legislator and a representative of the people, I find sessions like this vital as they serve to infuse new ideas and thoughts of our youth into our democratic system, and even help in the course-correction of our often conservative and stubborn policy decisions. I’m sure Indian politics will someday be enriched by the intellect and acumen of these students.

IT’s CHRISTMAS TIME; THE TIME FOR @BJP4Goa TO TARGET MINORITIES AND WATER DOWN #CHRISTMAS. It’s not surprising that every time this festive season approaches, BJP goes into overdrive to create difficulties to dampen the spirit of Christmas. The sudden, unexplained beef shortage in Goa is one such brainwave. I’d like to tell the Goa BJP that the Christmas message of goodwill, brotherhood and joy will be heartily celebrated by all #Goemkars, and the corruption, hate and incompetence that you idiotically call ‘good governance’, will be rejected outright.

EMPTY-HEADED HOMESTAY POLICIES CHANGING GOA’s DEMOGRAPHY. Thanks to the systematic marginalisation and exclusion of #Goemkars from traditional vocations, home stays are the only opportunity locals have to earn a decent livelihood from tourism. Yet, I’m appalled that thoughtlessly framed policies have opened up the floodgates to every non resident, non Goan, non home owner to register all kinds of accommodation under home stays, and make a killing at the expense of #Goans. #Goa is facing the danger of being overrun by businesses from #Delhi and other places exploiting the incompetence and the anti-Goan stance of the tourism department. I called out the utter failure of the minister and his ministry for their shoddy work that’s taking Goa tourism backward.

GOVT SHOCKINGLY INACTIVE AS CREDIT SOCIETIES DEFRAUD POOR #GOEMKARS. Today I raised the alarming issue of cooperative credit societies that have been duping Goans since 2016 of crores of rupees. Despite information that managers and directors are involved, no action has been forthcoming from the Economic Offences Wing of @GovtofGoa. I also demanded the @goacm fast track the investigation into the financial fraud at Marcel Mahila Cooperative Credit Society which has a case filed against them in 2021 for duping investors but no action has been taken yet.

BOUNCERS AND GOONS RUNNING PARALLEL JUSTICE SYSTEM. A series of murders, goondaism and other criminal activities in recent past have once again exposed not only the appalling flaws, incompetencies and corruption within our law and order apparatus but also the prevailing atmosphere of private justice in #Goa. A detection rate of just 62.92% and a conviction rate of an abysmal 6.18% should be an embarrassment for the Home Ministry. I warned the police and other officials to get their act together and not for a moment think they are on holiday here in the state at public expense.

Farmers and villagers from Borim met me to state their anxiety and apprehension about the alignment of the proposed new bridge at Borim which will destroy the Khazans. They informed me of the decision to oppose this mindless move, and I assured them that I will fight for them, along with them, all the way. I had, as agriculture minister, placed khazans on priority and worked for their revival. Construction must happen without destruction.

SHUTTING THE DOOR ON #GOEMKARS HAS BECOME A HABIT FOR #GOA PHARMA COMPANIES. STOP THIS NONSENSE. Close on the heels of Indoco Remedies, another company, Encube Ethicals is planning a Walk-in recruitment in #Pune for their #Goa plant. This is outrageous, and condemnable. The very fact that these companies are bold enough to deny employment to #Goan youth in their own state shows @GovtofGoa’s indifference towards the job seekers in the state, and their forgiving attitude towards these companies. Bring regulation, or create policy, do what must be done to protect the job opportunities that local Goans rightfully deserve.

A woman voter in #Fatorda constituency has been caught clicking pictures of the voting machine to submit as evidence to a @BJP4Goa leader for favours. Who’s this leader who gave such instructions in blatant violation of election norms? This could be the tip of the iceberg! This could be happening throughout Goa! I’m shocked and appalled by such illegal acts by BJP to hijack people’s will. I’ll take this up with the @ECISVEEP. This is unconstitutional, anti-people and anti democratic.
