Poornima is a, 60-year-old vegetarian Udupi restaurant located in Fort, South Mumbai, popular among daily office goers. On July 23, FDA officials launched a surprise inspection. They claimed to have found fungal growth on ingredients like drumsticks (for sambar) and bananas (for vadas), as well as poor drainage and flies. They immediately suspended its licence, shutting operations down. Proprietor Pramod J. Nayak moved the High Court, accusing the FDA of acting in an arbitrary "shoot first, ask questions later" manner. The restaurant argued that the floor was simply being mopped during the raid, flaking paint was mistaken for grime, and the FDA failed to take food samples for required laboratory testing.

During the hearings, the High Court questioned why the FDA was bypassing the legally required 14-day improvement notice for private properties.

Is the residential property part of a registered housing society ? If yes, then make a written representation to RWA in accordance with society Byelaws. A client, an OCI holder reached out mid-crisis, facing a high-conflict, cross-border #divorce nightmare:

• His foreign assets were frozen
•LOC was issued, he was detained at one of the airports while trying to leave India
• He was further restrained from leaving India

As lawyers, we don’t encourage litigation as a weapon to get even-especially when it distracts from the real goal.

Instead, we advised him to secure an injunction, restraining her from proceeding with the foreign case or filing fresh claims.

The result: He secured the relief he needed without escalating unnecessary legal battles.

My hope now is that better sense prevails on both sides so this can move toward resolution through mediation.

A common tactic employed by Real Estate players is to make irresistible offers on properties mortgaged with regulatory / statutory bodies. Sometimes 50% below the market price. Without a proper release deed, buying such property can be a dangerous gamble.
