Everyone talks about improving 1% every day.
What people don’t talk about enough is that some days… you don’t improve at all.
Some days you’re tired. Some days your mind is overloaded. Some days you’re running a business, solving problems nonstop, and just trying to keep things moving forward...
As the founder of a tour company, there’s this unspoken pressure that every single day must feel like the Super Bowl for your guests. They saved up for this trip. They’re excited. They expect energy, positivity, and an unforgettable experience every time.
And the truth is, they deserve that.
But behind the scenes, founders and operators are still human. We have bad days too.
.
There are days I don’t feel motivated. Days where I feel behind. Days where I question if I’m doing enough.
What I’ve learned is that growth isn’t about being perfect every day. It’s about learning how to get back on track when you fall out of rhythm.
A few things that help me reset:
• Stop trying to fix everything at once
When I feel overwhelmed, I focus on one win. One call. One guest interaction. One small improvement. Momentum usually follows action.
• Remember why I started
When you reconnect with the bigger purpose creating experiences people remember for the rest of their lives, it helps pull you out of the mental fog.
The 1% mindset isn’t about nonstop success.
It’s about refusing to stay stuck when life or business knocks you off course.
Some days the win is growth.
Some days the win is simply showing up again.
Being the founder of a tour company looks exciting from the outside the adventures, the people, the beautiful places. And honestly, it is. But what most people don’t see is the pressure that comes with waking up every single day knowing your energy sets the tone for your team, your customers, and your business.
Some days are easy. Other days you’re dealing with cancellations, weather, staffing issues, slow bookings, equipment problems, and the constant pressure of making sure everyone else has an amazing experience while you’re carrying the weight behind the scenes.
One of the biggest challenges as a founder is staying positive every day, especially when you don’t always feel positive inside.
Over the years, I’ve realized positivity isn’t something that magically shows up. It’s something you choose and work on daily.
Two things that help me stay positive:
Gratitude for the opportunity
Even on tough days, I remind myself that I get to build something I care about. Not everyone gets the chance to create experiences, lead a team, and build a business from the ground up. Focusing on that changes my mindset quickly.
Taking small moments to reset
Whether it’s a quiet morning coffee, a ride outside, talking with family, or simply stepping away from the phone for 15 minutes, small resets matter.
You can’t pour energy into others if you never recharge yourself.
Being a founder isn’t about being positive all the time. It’s about continuing to show up, lead, and believe in what you’re building even during the hard days.
And honestly… those hard days are usually the ones that shape you the most.
Here’s what I’ve learned about small mountain towns:
People rarely remember the view as much as they remember the story behind it.
They remember the old miner who built the cabin.
The underground tunnel beneath Main Street.
The hotel that’s supposedly haunted.
The railroad grade you can still ride today on an ebike.
That’s the real magic of these towns.
The scenery gets people to stop.
The stories are what make them feel connected.
And honestly, I think that’s why so many travelers are craving small-town experiences right now. People want something that feels authentic again.
That’s why ebikes work so well here.
You slow down.
You explore more.
You stop at random places.
You actually experience the town instead of just driving through it.
The best tourism experiences aren’t just about seeing a place.
They’re about feeling connected to it.
What’s a small-town story you still remember years later?

5 rural Colorado towns that are WAY better explored by ebike than by car.
🚲 Leadville: Historic streets, mining views, and enough scenery to make you stop every 10 minutes for a photo.
🚲 Buena Vista: Easy cruising, river views, coffee shops, and mountain backdrops everywhere you turn.
🚲 Creede: A hidden gem with huge history, cool old buildings, and relaxed riding perfect for casual explorers.
🚲 Silverton: The kind of town that feels frozen in time. Ebikes make it easy to explore without getting wiped out by the elevation.
🚲 Salida: Art galleries, local restaurants, river paths, and one of the best laid-back riding vibes in Colorado.
The best part about ebikes? You don’t need to be a hardcore cyclist anymore to enjoy adventure travel. You can just ride, explore, stop often, and actually experience the town.
What small Colorado town should I add next?
