One of our Year 13 students kindly put together this Snowdon 6 video. With a 0230 start and 2300 finish and summiting Snowdon 3 times, this is currently the pinnacle of mass participation 'resilience' events at RBCS. Truly a life long memory!
Fantastic racing against Bradfield and Pangbourne yesterday. Light winds made it extremely tactical. RBCS just missed out on top spot by half a boat length on the final race. Tremendous effort from a brilliant bunch of Year 9 sailors. Well done!
Great day in Snowdonia with an intrepid group of Year 12s. No matter what the weather did, they remained in high spirits, determined to reach the summit of Moel Siabod via the famous Daear Ddu ridge, one of the most enjoyable and accessible scrambles in the area. Superb!
The Year 12s are thoroughly enjoying their Start Yachting Course on the Solent. Great conditions, great company and great times had by all! Another adventure for the memory bank.
The Year 9s enjoying a fantastic surf after the rigours of the coasteering session. What a tremendous experience for all the boys. They have loved every minute!
A superb coasteering session with the Year 9s in Croyde yesterday. The session was all about overcoming fear and building confidence. The boys were outstanding!
Fantastic sailing from the Year 8s as they take on their RYA Stage 4 qualification during Activities Week. From complete beginner to knocking on the door of Assistant Dinghy Instructor status in under 2 years is exceptional and testament to their commitment. Well done!
A great session on the crate stack during Adventure Education today. A surprisingly tricky activity requiring considerable teamwork, leadership, balance and composure. Eight crates the current record. I'm looking for at least 12. As was ever the case, a strong foundation is key!
Final sailing session for the Year 8s produced some extremely close racing. A multitude of qualifications were also gained, setting many of the students up for two days of sailing during Activities Week. It's all about continually moving forwards!
Last weekend the Adventure Education department organised a fantastic Lake District scrambling experience for 8 adventurous Years 8's. The first step on their 'Mountaineering' journey. It was an absolutely superb trip for both pupils and teachers alike.
Last weekend, 18 intrepid Year 12βs successfully completed the notorious Snowdon 6 Challenge - 40km and 2750m of ascent over 19 hours. This has never been done by a school group before. Reading Blue Coat School has made history! Fantastic effort and well done!
Please enjoy a brief video showing a few highlights of the superb 2023 RBCS Malta scuba diving expedition. Many thanks to George M. for producing such a compelling video whilst earning his Advanced Open Water qualifications. What a trip!
A fantastic final day at Cirkewwa which included moray eels, cuttlefish, the wrecks of a patrol boat and a fishing trawler, and some amazing underwater rock formations. Three boys completed their Advanced Open Water qualification and 10 were awarded their Open Water. What a trip!
Days two and three of the Malta Scuba Diving Expedition continued where Day one left off. Stunning bays and historic harbours coupled with glorious blue skies and superb underwater visibility. Superb! Incredible underwater footage to follow...!
A fantastic first day scuba diving in the crystal clear waters of Malta. A thoroughly exhilarating experience had by all with everyone looking forward to tomorrow's 'wreck dive'. Weather permitting, the first of many!
A great Adventure Education session on the High Ropes Course yesterday with the Year 8s. Jelly legs all round despite being accomplished climbers! Team work, communication and courage all demonstrated in abundance. Well done!
Final diving session before the Scuba Squad arrive in Malta. Such a fun and yet cathartic adventurous activity - and that's just in the pool! Ship wrecks and plane wrecks here we come!
