@indSupremeCourt 👍Misleading reports are falsely targeting the CJI over the 'cockroach issue' remarks. As a legal professional, I have broken down the actual professional context here to counter this false narrative. Email sent to the Registry on 6th Aug: @indSupremeCourt https://t.co/LUUZgoQLFe

@SauravDassss. Thank @CJI. @CJI bench passed order quashing FIRs. In July/August itself @CJI bench
clarified that states have liberty to quash/withdraw FIRs. But @CJP_for_India has been harassing the @CJI on remarks misquoted by media. Read post https://t.co/LUUZgoQLFe
🚨#IMPORTANTSTATEMENT🚨
A MAJOR VICTORY FOR THE YOUNG GENERATION ONCE AGAIN.
The Government of India and other BJP/NDA ruled states requested the Supreme Court to use its extraordinary powers under Article 142 to quash all existing FIRs against ALL protesters in ALL states. The Court has done so.
More than 130+ FIRs have been quashed today. BIG BIG WIN!
They also requested the Court to record that no state or UT will file fresh FIRs against any protester and that no one will be targeted or harassed in the future for participating in the protests. The Court recorded the same thereby granting judicial protection.
The Court was also requested by them to record that if any FIRs are missing from the list of FIRs they’ve provided, those too, upon identification, will be covered by this judgment and will stand quashed. The Court agreed. MOST IMPORTANTLY—Perhaps never in 80 years has the Supreme Court passed a ‘John Doe’ like quashing order protecting persons.
With the three above, the Commitment Number 2 stands FULFILLED.
They also requested that the compensation for the families will be provided, but that some time be granted. The Cockroach Janta Party agreed to a timeline of 3 months. The Court recorded the same, making it binding on the government of India to credit their accounts within 3 months.
With this, Commitment Number 3 stands fulfilled to a great extent. We will continue to monitor the progress on this periodically.
Accordingly, given that all the commitments have been honoured by governments requesting the Court for help, on behalf of the CJP, I made a statement before the three-judge bench that we are calling off the September 5 protest march in Delhi. The union government had requested us to make this statement. We accepted, in good faith.
We would like to thank our honorary Queen Cockroach @vrindagrover who stood by us from Day 1 and acted as our legal counsel to make this entire thing possible. Hats off to you ma’am! 🫶🏻
All in all, a historic victory for Gen Z and Young Gen!
The CJP continues to stand with every protester as we have from Day 1. The national awakening is here. Days for the corrupt, the incompetent are over. A better, brighter future for students and young generation is only a matter of time now!
@whattalawyer (well done on ur hard work, Ms. Legal Affairs Lead!) @abhijeet_dipke@AshutoshRanka@deepakbaliyan90@Cockroachisback
Kudos to free and fair reporting @timesofindia. The only news report which has revealed that it is @CJI bench of Supreme Court that has passed the order quashing the FIRs against student protesters. In July/August @CJI bench had stated that states can quash FIR.
Supreme Court on Tuesday invoked its special powers and quashed all FIRs registered against student protesters in different parts of the country during the NEET paper leak protests. The bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana said the order had been passed in view of the peculiar facts and circumstances of the case and shall not be treated as a precedent.

Mr @SauravDassss. This is not relevant now. But how did the states get the impetus to do that on your saying. @CJI in July/August itself had said that states can quash FIRs. ( Indian Express& other reports)
So thank the @CJI instead of harassing. You owe him an apology.
🚨Important update.
Last night I had said that we expect other BJP/NDA ruled states to file applications seeking quashing of ALL FIRs against students and protesters.
This has now happened. West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, and Maharashtra.
The Union Government will even make a statement guaranteeing this for all other states too.
Matter to be taken up at 2 PM. I am to make a statement in court thereafter.
@Cockroachisback
But who passed the order- @CJI bench.@CJP_for_India has been harassing @CJI on remarks misquoted by media which is still causing trouble in form of @NALSAR_Official, @NLSIUofficial& @NLUD protests. @CJI deserves an apology. Read my post https://t.co/LUUZgoQLFe
@cji CJI bench which quashed FIRs, had in July-August itself said that states can quash FIRs. @CJP_for_India wrongly harassing @CJI on remarks misquoted by media which is causing trouble in the form of @NALSAR_Official, @NLSIUofficial & @NLUD protests. @CJI deserves an apology.

@CJI bench has quashed the FIRs against students. Earlier also, @CJI Surya Kant explicitly directed to exercise restraint when responding to young student protesters and handle them with care. ( Indian express report of 5th August, 2026 and other reports)
It is the @CJI bench that has quashed the FIRs. @CJP_for_India has been harassing the @CJI on remarks misquoted by the media which is still causing trouble in the form of @NALSAR_Official, @NLSIUofficial & @NLUD student protests. You owe @CJI an apology.
For the past month, I have literally been carrying this worry with me. Despite the historic victory on July 25, one thing that deeply troubled me was the number of FIRs registered across different states and the many people who kept reaching out to us for legal help.
Today, this victory feels even more historic.
The Supreme Court has quashed all FIRs against the protestors, ensuring complete justice for those who stood up and exercised their right to protest. There will be no further action or fresh FIRs in connection with the Jantar Mantar protest. The families of the NEET 2026 victims will also receive compensation within 90 days.
Every single one of our demands has now been met. Whattaday!
(haters can take a break today, there is nothing more left to say)
You are wrong sir. The @CJI was misquoted by media and is still being wrongly harassed. @CJI had earlier itself asked the govt to exercise restraint in the issue. @CJP needs to apologize. Read my post. https://t.co/LUUZgoQLFe
@indSupremeCourt
INTERESTING: four months ago, the Chief Justice of India used the word ‘cockroach’ to almost damn the unemployed youth( he later claimed his comments were misconstrued). Now, the same CJI-led SC has invoked its special jurisdiction to quash 1000s of FIRs filed by Centre and States against students. And the CJI ‘thanks’ the youth and Govt for a ‘good gesture’. Turns out even cockroaches can have their day in court !😃👍

A group of Gujarati Hindus boarded a bus in Germany and started singing loudly while everyone else remained quiet;in doing so,they were disturbing the other passengers.
Extremely embarrassing for India. If this continues,Indians could soon face strict visa restrictions worldwide.
But who passed order quashing FIR's. @CJI Surya Kant bench. In spite of @CJP_for_India constantly harassing @CJI over media reports misquoting the @CJI, which also precipitated @NALSAR@NLSIU and now @NLUD students fiasco. @CJP_for_India apologize.
@whattalawyer@vrindagrover The king is the Supreme Court bench who passed the order. @CJI Surya Kant had explicitly directed law enforcement agencies to exercise restraint when responding to students and said states have liberty to quash or withdraw FIRs against students.
What is wrong IF the CJI's office asked for re-invitation to @NLIU_official. Haven't these unruly students heard about 'adithi devo bhava'. The whole premise of their protest was wrong in supporting the @NALSAR_Official students. @CJI was misquoted.

NLU Delhi student body expresses solidarity with NLSIU students over cancelled convocation

Did the media check with the learned judge before this report, whether the learned judge meant the cancellation of the NLSIU convocation when he said this or WHETHER the learned judge was speaking about democratic right of citizens to dissent in general.
#BREAKING Justice Ujjal Bhuyan condemns punitive actions against students for expressing dissenting views., says they cannot be threatened for merely holding different views.
Justice Bhuyan's comments come in the backdrop of NLSIU cancelling convocation after students objected to the participation of CJI Surya Kant, and BCI attempted to stop the enrolment of NALSAR students for campaign against the CJI.
Speaking at NLU Delhi LLM Convocation, Justice Bhuyan says :
"So when students express a different point of view, when students ask questions, they cannot be threatened. They cannot be threatened with punitive action. That is unconstitutional. That is misuse of power and office. Our Constitution does not seek uniformity of thought. It creates a framework in which people with different beliefs, opinions and convictions can live with equal dignity and participate in a common democratic life."
