I think what makes this story more depressing & alarming than him being an “American Idol alum” is that Caleb Flynn was a worship pastor.

And despite having a wife & two children, something many men long for, Flynn decided he wanted more than what God gave him.

He started having an affair with a woman at his church. Text messages show that they became obsessed with each other, & Flynn began to despise his wife.

But despite hating his wife, Flynn refused to divorce her because he didn’t want to lose his kids, his reputation, nor his job (his father-in-law gave him a job working for him). But his affair partner would not keep seeing him unless they divorced, so he decided to murder his wife.

It’s a devastating reminder of what sin takes from us. Caleb went from lust, to betrayal, to adultery, to murder.

And now his wife is dead. His children are without both parents. His affair partner has been exposed and her life is ruined. And of course, Caleb ruined his own life.

Modern-day feminism fights imaginary battles and creates conflict where there should be none. It seems to have completely derailed from some of its original tenets and turned into simply fighting men.

If they are not fighting over whether women should cook for their men, they are fighting over whose name a child should bear. But you hardly see the same energy when it comes to women sponsoring weddings or demanding that financial responsibilities be 50/50. I mean, who pays the piper dictates the tune. If you genuinely want equality, start with finances. You cannot insist on maintaining every traditional role that benefits you and suddenly cry injustice when it comes to the ones that do not.

By the way, there are places where I genuinely expect feminists to channel this energy. I have been seeing the conversations around fake menstrual pads and suggestions that women should start using menstrual cups instead. I expected to see protests. Women’s voices can be very powerful when that energy is channelled into issues that actually affect women’s lives. Organise a protest at the NAFDAC office. Host spaces. Use the media. Create enough pressure for the issue to receive serious attention.

Push for women to have the sole consent to opt for a CS delivery during childbirth without hospitals necessarily prioritising the husband’s decision. Rally around the issue of child marriage, especially in Northern Nigeria, and put pressure on lawmakers to act. There are countless things feminism can actually achieve.

We now have women who have attained the highest levels of education. Use that education and influence to speak on genuine women’s rights that are still unmet, the safety and protection of women, and the welfare of the girl child.

Yet many accounts here that identify as feminists and proudly put it in their bios have not done a single thing to help the girl child. You hardly see them lend their voices when a conversation requires an actual feminist movement. But once the conversation becomes about hating men, attacking men, or pushing a gender war, they suddenly discover their most vociferous voices.

If feminism is really about improving women’s lives, then there should be far more to it than constantly finding new battles with men.

The gospel is meant to be preached and believed, meaning you will look for people, open your mouth, and tell them the good news.

We weren’t instructed to shift culture through influence and money. It rarely even happens, and when it does, people may end up believing the wrong thing. The way the apostles shifted the culture, that is, “turned the world upside down,” was through the preaching of the gospel.

Times have changed, but the power of the gospel is still in opening your mouth to preach it.

On Sunday, while in the bus on my way to church, something happened that tested my Christian resolve.

The driver asked for money, and he specifically asked that it start from the back seat.

I was beside him, so I thought he would get to me. But he didn't.

Suddenly, he yelled at me, saying I was the one who had thrown him into confusion by not paying.

I was enraged and triggered. I was visibly angry, my heart racing, my brows furrowed, and I was ready to erupt.

Immediately, the Holy Spirit said, “You are a Christian; you are a Christian.”

You cannot imagine how much I wanted to clear myself because he had accused me wrongly and yelled at me.

I wanted to angrily defend my pride. But the Spirit stopped me.

It wasn't easy, guys. I literally pressed my lips, and they were shaking because I was holding the anger in.

But I successfully did it. I kept my peace, and the anger quickly vanished within seconds.

I gained Christ. I died to my flesh at that moment and gained the life of Christ.

Those who are in Christ must live this way. This is what it means to be members of the kingdom of God.

Paul says:

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.” — Ephesians 4:1–2

And again:

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.”
— Ephesians 4:31

Those who are of Christ must live by Christ. Be led by the Spirit as sons of God.

There is a Chinese bio-methanol and ethanol manufacturing company (let's call it SBML) located in Juapong within the North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region in Ghana. Information reaching me from farmers in the district is that the company has stopped buying fresh cassava from the enclave and now buys from Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Benin, and Togo.

This may be due to the exchange rate and the fact that they get it cheaper from the neighboring countries. The company was previously buying from farmers in the locality when the cedi was trading at GH¢15–GH¢16 to the dollar.

At that time, they were buying from the farmers at GH¢1,200 per ton, which was very favorable.

Currently, the farmers are experiencing losses and can tell you factually that the company is NOT buying at all.
