If say, 100 people in hospital, 60 vaxxed 40 not. That looks like vaxx doesn't work. But 60/1,000,000 vs 40/100,000 is very different.

@82LeeG @innisfree1962 @BBCNews In my opinion a brief lock down would have been worthwhile whilst we learn the potential for increased hospitalisation from omicron. We will know over the next few days the effect.
But, horse and bolted come to mind. No point now. If hospitalisations increase NHS is screwed.
@Neil10347633 @BBCNews So we either don't lock down and if it is more severe we will have a wave of hospitalisations and be up shit creek, or, we lock down now and wait and see what happens to the few thousand known to have omicron and end up economically, up shits creek.

The approx. 2 week lag from infection to hospitalisation means that in around 7-10 days we will know if hospitalisation are increasing and therefore if the strain is more severe.
