@P0PKULTURE I’m genuinely confused on how people could know the artist who created it, what she’s been through, who the art is depicting and not see this as both haunting and beautiful. Jules absolutely cooked with this
@xbabyfatherx@kcrdr7322 No but adding racial commentary to a story that’s clearly not about race would confuse and weaken the message they are trying to get through.
Are you saying we shouldn’t critique people who have bad takes on film if they’re a different race?
Also what is art reinforcing racial stereotypes mean on a practical level? Can filmmakers not add character traits if it’s associated with a particular race? What if the character needs that trait for the story to work?
Characters are not people, they’re representations of theme. So unless the themes of the are related to racial commentary then nothing you said here is relevant. If anything the film is post-racial because nobody’s race even slightly informs their character. At all. You’re searching for things to be offended by, you should probably just go for a walk man
the season had record breaking viewership
the surface level reading is meant to make you believe he's referring to Rue, but in hindsight he's clearly referring to himself. they also show his (non) reaction every single time Alamo does something out of pocket all season. the clues were there
@ucgenmagduru The show made it very clear that Ali is such a loving soul because of what he learned in the Quran. If he didn't renounce his faith everyone would be saying the show's Islamophobic because the muslim guy killed people
Also, Rue found judaism not christianity
@pukeuprainbows Why would a TV show need to write its story to satisfy addicts? Not even going to touch on the obvious misinterpretations, but do you actually think the point of art is to make the audience experience only positive emotions? Genuinely curious how you came to this opinion lol
People who think they can generate films to replace the Hollywood blockbuster from their mom’s basement are obviously re*arded. But also people who think that using the tech at any point in the filmmaking process are violating some natural order are also wrong. It’s not going to make anything better, but if people can use it and then spend a little more time with their families, it’s obviously gonna have some draw
The snake metaphor was him admitting he was aiming to replace him. Also anytime he did something out of pocket they’d show him assessing the situation. I think the Maddie thing was icing on the cake. Idk if it’s because he had feelings for her or because he knew he could leverage that position into a sexual relationship with her
@legotrillermoth The messaging was aimed at conservatives but I don’t think it was inherently “Republican”
He was saying “we have a common enemy but it’s NOT your black/muslim/trans/Christian/etc neighbors. it’s the people profiting off of our misery“
@drnifkin_OB I was against Zohran but it looks like he's doing well so far. Don't let it slip that an establishment democrat just handed him $4 billion to fund these things.
What we're seeing right now is both sides of the party working in unison
@missmayn Putting the average LA homeless into an apartment would just be creating more homeless people when the place is condemned or burned to ashes. You simply cannot force families to share walls with these people.
@actingliketommy I’ve always believed LA is one evil, unforgivable anti-homeless policy away from being the greatest city on the planet. But Pratt would regress the city in so many other ways that I could never bring myself to vote for him
@PJaccetturo This is impressive in the same way that getting a 0% on a multiple choice exam is impressive. Like it’s genuinely hard to fathom that someone could be this inept at storytelling
But it wasn’t contrast just for the sake of it, there were thematic and practical story reasons why the summery landscape was right to backdrop the horror. Your original comment was a plea for realism, and I don’t think that’s a good argument to make. If Nolan’s intent is for the audience to feel dread and futility, I just can’t see how vibrancy as a core visual theme would help that
@funsizedshark I mean of course you could but if the frame and the story aren’t working hand in hand then you’re diluting the emotion just so the audience has something shiny to look at, and that sounds like something a bad director would do
