सनातन धर्म में चार पवित्र धामों का विशेष महत्व है। इन्हीं चार धामों में से एक महाप्रभु श्री जगन्नाथ जी की पावन नगरी श्री जगन्नाथ धाम, पुरी है, जो करोड़ों सनातन श्रद्धालुओं की आस्था, विश्वास और भक्ति का केंद्र है।

अप्रैल 2025 में दीघा में नवप्रतिष्ठापित महाप्रभु श्री जगन्नाथ जी के मंदिर का नामकरण ‘दीघा जगन्नाथ धाम’ किया गया था। ‘धाम’ शब्द का संबंध सनातन परंपरा में अत्यंत पवित्र और विशिष्ट धार्मिक महत्व से है। इस कारण दीघा जगन्नाथ मंदिर में ‘धाम’ शब्द के प्रयोग को लेकर जगन्नाथ भक्तों के हृदय में अत्यंत दुःख और पीड़ा का भाव उत्पन्न हुआ।

इस विषय को लेकर ओडिशा के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री मोहन चरण माझी जी ने तत्कालीन पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार को पत्र लिखकर जगन्नाथ भक्तों की भावनाओं से अवगत कराया था तथा नाम परिवर्तन पर विचार करने का आग्रह किया था। किंतु उस समय इस संबंध में कोई निर्णय नहीं लिया गया।

अब पश्चिम बंगाल में नई सरकार के गठन के पश्चात, मैंने भी इस विषय को लेकर ओडिशा के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री मोहन चरण माझी जी से भेंट की तथा उनसे आग्रह किया कि ‘दीघा जगन्नाथ धाम’ का नाम परिवर्तित कर ‘श्री जगन्नाथ मंदिर, दीघा’ किया जाए। इस संबंध में मैंने उन्हें एक पत्र भी सौंपा।

जगन्नाथ भक्तों की भावनाओं का सम्मान करते हुए माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री मोहन चरण माझी जी ने इस विषय को पुनः संज्ञान में लिया तथा पश्चिम बंगाल के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री शुभेंदु अधिकारी जी को पत्र लिखकर ‘दीघा जगन्नाथ धाम’ का नाम परिवर्तित कर ‘श्री जगन्नाथ मंदिर, दीघा’ किए जाने का अनुरोध किया।

आज कोलकाता स्थित नबान्न में आयोजित संयुक्त प्रेसवार्ता में पश्चिम बंगाल के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री शुभेंदु अधिकारी जी ने कोटि-कोटि जगन्नाथ भक्तों की भावनाओं और आस्था का सम्मान करते हुए ‘दीघा जगन्नाथ धाम’ नाम से ‘धाम’ शब्द हटाए जाने का निर्णय किया है।

यह निर्णय करोड़ों जगन्नाथ भक्तों की धार्मिक भावनाओं, सनातन परंपरा तथा श्री जगन्नाथ धाम, पुरी की ऐतिहासिक एवं आध्यात्मिक गरिमा के सम्मान की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।

इस निर्णय हेतु, हम सभी जगन्नाथ भक्तों की तरफ से पश्चिम बंगाल के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री शुभेंदु अधिकारी जी तथा ओडिशा के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री मोहन चरण माझी जी का हार्दिक आभार एवं धन्यवाद व्यक्त करते हैं।
