The team, the process and the research values 💡Yesterday, we had an away day to work together and brainstorm important topics, including the values that we hold as a team. This is a really worthwhile process, especially when it results in baked goods and better research!
Our Postdoc researcher @HormonoGo published a new paper on depressive symptoms in those starting gender-affirming hormones!
See her thread to read more about the paper 👇, and stay tuned to keep updated on our future work on mood changes and gender-affirming hormones🏳️⚧️!
In the AffirmRelationships project, Margot will focus on the possible changes in emotions and psychological well-being in those starting gender-affirming hormones. Stay tuned to learn more!
Last week, NRC published an interview with our Postdoctoral researcher @HormonoGo! In her PhD, Margot studied the effects of gender-affirming hormones on sleep, and in this interview she discussed the results of the studies in her PhD.
I got to talk about our research on sex hormones and sleep to @NikkiWeststeijn, and the the resulting interview is out now in national newspaper NRC 📰!

These results indicate that in the first year of gender-affirming hormone use, insomnia and sleep quality do not significantly change.
However, she finds small changes in deep sleep and dream sleep in those using testosterone. She also finds changes in preferred bedtimes!
Exciting news: we are recruiting for our new study! 🥳
For this interview study, we are looking for people who would like to share their experiences with gender-affirming hormones.
