Ms. @FereshtaAbbasi emphasized that’s : Documentation gap exists - a complementary UN-led mechanism is needed to collect evidence and establish responsibility. HRC has established such for other situations & Afghans also deserve it. #HRC58
Ms. Fatima Amiri, a survivor of attack on Kaj academy presented a heart breaking testimony of the attacks on education and how the current situation negatively impact Afg women and men and called on countries to do more than just speaking. #HRC58
SR_Afg: there is global responsibility to address the situation - accountability is central to this - sending message that there would be consequences. I support the creation of an independent accountability mechanism that is compelementary to his work. #HRC58
SR_Afg, @SR_Afghanistan we should be only cautiously optimist - as HR situation dramatically deteriorates by day specially for women - Taliban’s misogynostic policies only intensified compared to their previous term and there are signs of more oppression to come. #HRC58
Our cohosted panel on accountability kickstarted just now an opening remarks by Amb.Andisha expressing cautious optimism over move toward small actual steps from statements - progress at ICC, ICJ,UNSR. This circle of can be tightened by leveraging universal jurisdiction&targeted.

Finally, more than mere words: a welcome step towards ending impunity in Afghanistan & sending a strong message to perpetrators of human rights abuses. Now, there is a need for more warrants, focusing on perpetrators who roam freely & could actually be brought to the court.
#ICC Prosecutor @KarimKhanQC announces applications for warrants of arrest in the situation in #Afghanistan for the Supreme Leader of the Taliban, Haibatullah Akhundzada, and the Chief Justice of the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan”, Abdul Hakim Haqqani.

I'm seriously concerned about reports of injuries & deaths of Afghans in Iran's #Saravan border area and I call for authorities to investigate transparently. Clarity is urgently needed. These reports don't stand in isolation. More dignity & safety is needed for Afghans worldwide.
The @SR_Afghanistan's mandate renewal and strengthening is a welcome step. We hope he gets all necessary resources to fill the evidence collection gap essential for any meaningful accountability. We regret that HRC once again shied away from establishing a strong mechanism.
Grateful to #HRC57@UN_HRC for adopting the #Afghanistan resolution without vote. I will independently & impartially carry out the strengthened mandate, engage to make a difference for Afghans, and document & report on violations
