[Amber Flohm @AFlohm]

As #RefugeeWeek2026 concludes, we know that public ed will always epitomise the coming together of a million stories of hope, courage, strength and success across all communities.
We must elevate this Australia, seen through the eyes of these children wearing red for refugees.

[Teachers Federation @TeachersFed]

Congratulations to Amber Flohm on receiving life membership of the Australian Education Union, awarded for exemplary contribution to the union and to education.

' The most devastating impact has been on regional & disadvantaged communities, depriving students of the courses they needed to build skills that both they and the broader community need.
The restoration of TAFE as a public asset serving the public good is long overdue' she said

[Teachers Federation @TeachersFed]

NSW Teachers Federation Acting President, Amber Flohm said “Federation welcomes the removal of TAFE NSW from contestable funding, receiving direct funding from government just as schools do. Freeing up our TAFE NSW teachers to do more of the job they love, teaching their students and preparing curriculum for them, rather than hours of administration which has no effect on their student’s skill development and education, is to be applauded. Returning TAFE NSW to its rightful place as the public education institution which we can all be proud of, a government asset for the public good, serving our students, communities and addressing the skills shortages, is welcomed by the Federation after twelve long years of neglect and destruction by the Liberals and Nationals.”

The @NTEUnion has consistently called for TEQSA to be given more power to regulate governance and university leadership. This is another promising sign that our campaign to fix governance is working.

Today is National Equal Pay Day! 50 days after the end of the financial year, as this represents the additional days needed to work to make up for the gender pay gap in Australia 😳 Here's a couple of myth busters for @TeachersFed members.

I’m confused: did a memo go out this week saying it’s finally okay for politicians and the press to be outraged that Israel is starving Palestinians?

If so, I didn’t see the memo. But I did see the evidence of the war crime and declarations by its perpetrators back in late 2023

Thanks for the opportunity to highlight this important issue @TeachersFed Much appreciated, and plenty of work to be done to improve the situation for systems, schools, teachers, and most importantly, students.

As we get ready to kick off this year’s Annual Confernce, Deputy President @AFlohm penned an opinion piece for today’s Illawarra Mercury. It comes with a message for the NSW government, “NSW teachers deserve safety at work and a safety net when they're harmed. The question is whether the NSW Government will listen and act. Our teachers - and our students - deserve better”

[AEU @AEUfederal]

As teachers, unionists, and advocates for public education, the AEU stands in unwavering solidarity with our colleagues in the United States - members of the @NEAToday and the @AFTunion - who are courageously defending the right to education, the freedom to teach, students and school communities, and the integrity of their profession. #GoPublic4Solidarity
