Afri-Asia Drug Prevention Summit unites Global South actors in prevention, treatment, recovery, and policy to advance joint Drug Demand Reduction efforts
Honored to speak at the Afri-Asia Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya between 27th to 29th October, 2025, where I made a presentation titled “Drug Prevention and Resilience Building with a Gender and Youth Lens: A Case Study of the Leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.”
My presentation highlighted His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s visionary efforts in creating opportunities for young people empowering them, building resilience, and steering them away from drugs toward a better and brighter future.
During the summit, I had the privilege of engaging with notable personalities, including HON. SEN. (DR.) ISAAC MAIGUA MWAURA, the Spokesperson to the Kenyan Government, as well as other distinguished professionals in drug abuse prevention and treatment from 23 countries across Africa, Europe and Asia.
Together, we shared strategies, strengthened partnerships, and renewed our collective commitment to building a drug-free generation. 🌍💪

After a hectic week in DC meeting with admin and other officials, my heart is so full after my short trip to Kenya. I’ll share more soon, but it was a delight to speak to the President’s spokesman about real prevention investment and global cooperation. Thank you @AfriAsiaSummit!
A single shipment. 1,024 kilos of pure danger. This isn't just a headline; it's our reality.
The interception of a massive methamphetamine consignment off the coast of Mombasa is a stark warning. The threat is at our doorstep, and the stats are even more alarming:
➡️ 292 million+ people globally use drugs (World Drug Report 2024).
➡️ Children as young as SIX are being introduced to substances in Kenya.
At the inaugural @AfriAsiaSummit on Drug Prevention, NACADA CEO @omerikwa issued a powerful call to action: Prevention is not an event—it is a commitment.
It’s time to:
✅ Intensify prevention programs in families, schools & workplaces.
✅ Build capacity through world-class training & accreditation.
✅ Stand together as champions to safeguard our communities.
The future of our youth depends on the choices we make today. Join the movement. Be part of the solution.
