“Virginity perpetuates this idea that sex is something that women give and men take.
I’m not giving anything to anyone, and I’m taking just fine”. Another quote I love from @monaeltahawy

Last night, I received reports that Paulette Bisola Ajayi, a lawyer & daughter of Ngozi Ajayi (also a lawyer) was abducted by at least 4 gunmen dressed in combat fatigues & dark t-shirts in front of her home in Rumukurushi PH, as she was waiting for her gate to be opened.
@christiesoluxe @taoleighgoffe I actually also went right for my PhD after undergrad and I’m having a good amount of fun now, while I’m my 20’s, because I’m striving for that balance. Same way I expect to do once I’m done here.
More praise for @monaeltahawy s book by @the_korede “You read her book & you’re reading a comprehensive but interesting news magazine. You’re learning a lot of things. You’re picking up on other things/people you need to read up on...She gives you power without you realizing it”.
“Women are supposed to be “less than,” not “too much.” Women are meant to be quiet, modest, humble, polite, nice, well-behaved, aware of the red lines. They are supposed to tread softly and within their limits.” Chapter on Profanity is my fav! @monaeltahawy

This episode of #Australian TV show Q&A was banned from rebroadcast for reasons including I said “fuck” 10 times & asked “How many rapists must we kill before men stop raping women?”
Fuck civility.
I got so much flack when this book of poems came out. Critics and journalists labelled me ‘a man-hater’, ‘a lesbian’, because of the themes I explored.
I’m looking at those poems now & I can see why they were so incensed. 🤣 At 23yo I already knew what was important to me.
