People love hand waving away American genocide because "it happened so long ago" as if indigenous people aren't still relegated to living in poverty in their state assigned "reservations".
The thing is, Islam doesn’t equal abandoning one’s cultural identity. Worldliness and sinful behavior yes, but aren’t Pakistanis, Arabs and Indonesians culturally distinct? It’s only the hyper-orthodox and non-Muslims who genuinely think Islam requires one to larp as an Arab.
This is the Black Bourgeoisie in a nutshell. This is where DEI, in an imperialist state, will inevitably lead to. If your path to upward social mobility is joining a genocidal war machine, killing Black and Brown folks across the globe, then you deserve to stay poor.
Western chauvinism in a nutshell. You can go to Iraq, kill, torture, and rape brown people, but lay a hand/sexually assaulting a white woman, and suddenly everyone discovers your "propensity for violence." That wasnt made clear previously🤨🤨🤨🤨 Colonial logic has always worked this way: violence against the colonized is normalized; violence within the imperial core is the real moral scandal cause this is the civilized society🙄🙄🙄.
Platner needs to be dropped off on a street corner in Fallujah with a sign that says “American soldier 2005-2006” around his neck. Let the Iraqis decide what should happen and whether he should be forgiven.
one thing i love about nami is prior to meeting luffy she was after money to save her village but then she's after money just for the love of the game and i respect that so much
maybe when people who have lived beneath american violence tell u that a man’s comfort with imperial violence frightens us, u should listen. maybe our fear is not an intellectual deficiency to be corrected by americans who have never heard their sky buzzing.
The "Middle Class" was a 50-year fluke designed to prevent a communist revolution during the Cold War. Now that the threat is gone, the elites are systematically dismantling it. You aren't "falling behind"; you’re being pushed back into the peasantry.
Maybe if murdering Brown people had been a disqualifier, we wouldn’t be here to begin with. Another day, another reminder that much of the American left only seems to treat rape and murder as disqualifying when the victims are Americans & not overseas.
Part of why Socrates was sentenced to death was his anti-democratic beliefs. He was critical of it bc essentially he felt the masses were largely too uneducated to be making such decisions. He felt politics was too specialized for ppl without knowledge in it to be voting on it.
@izzykento I liked how Cuba put their constitutional amendments to a popular vote. That way the people have a concrete say in the guidelines of government infrastructure, even if it still requires specialization to implement.
