South Africa's harsh reality - A nation paralyzed by inaction.

No sense of perspicacity or urgency among us, we’re bleeding out. Scams and deceit permeate every sector - from banking to healthcare to property to utilities to regular services. We all know it. We talk endlessly on "podcasts, ticktoks", but act rarely, mostly never.

Our collective apathy stifles any hope for change.

We couldn’t start a revolution even if we tried.

Election fraud in 2024 is crazy. Multi-layered oversight from party agents, auditors, and civil society is not enough and cannot be trusted considering our openness to bribery and corruption.

Key mitigations are "wider transparency" with existing technologies. Blockchain and biometrics alone would do the trick. Sounds complex but very straightforward.

Blockchain would create a transparent and immutable ledger for votes, making it nearly impossible to alter or tamper with the results, secure and even available for public review, boosting confidence in the voting process. Bitcoin uses this and is a global use case example. Wish I could get into more detail here but that's an example.

Biometrics would verify voters' identity, detect duplicate votes, and prevent impersonations.

This would radically change the confidence in each person's vote and alternative innovative solutions from legacy systems could be implemented.

There is no foolproof system but we cannot grow without iteration and improvements. A lot has changed with time, and we need to embrace it. We cannot be falling for old tricks in 2024.
