Do you not understand how feminism works? If it’s bad for women, I’m against it, and few things in modern Western society are worse for women than pornography.

Porn is a massive, devastating, society-wide problem that harms women - and men - in myriad ways, and the Church has been firmly opposed to it for as long as it has existed. As a feminist, of _course_ I’m concerned to see women being told to ignore their own consciences and the dictates of Church doctrine in order to pander to the male addiction to a form of media that degrades, dehumanizes, and abuses women for the sake of men’s sexual pleasure. Of _course_ I’m appalled to see Church leadership abandoning Christian principles, and shaming women for causing “degeneracy” by refusing to do the same, all to sate the very worst sexual appetites of men.

Modern pornography portrays sex as being degrading to women, and damaging to our value as human beings. It encourages men to masturbate to the sight of women being choked, hit, and sexually brutalized. Titles and synopses encourage men to see the penis as a weapon of women’s destruction, and women themselves as sluts and whores who deserve the degradation and pain the penis metes out. Women are shown with makeup ruined, with tears running down their faces, being slammed around, and struck, and choked. As with rape, the focus of pornography is domination, control, and the sexual punishment of women, and with much of the content on even mainstream porn sites, any remaining dividing line has been utterly erased.

Pornography has had an appallingly damaging impact on modern society, especially the relationship between the sexes. It has permanently altered the way most men see women. It has even altered the way in which men and women have sex: choking has become so common among younger people that many women have come to simply expect it now, and they usually aren’t asked for their consent first. It encourages rape and misogyny, and it programs men to enjoy sexual violence.

Now the Catholic Church - one of porn’s staunchest opponents, and one of our few remaining allies in the fight against it - has run up the white flag….and is blaming women for “causing degeneracy” by refusing to go along with the surrender. Why WOULDN’T a feminist be concerned by this?

People with differences of sexual development are male and female. The various conditions that fall beneath the intersex umbrella are sex-specific. Klinefelter syndrome only affects men. MRKH syndrome only affects women. There is no third sex. Sex is not a spectrum, and the reason so many people with DSDs dislike the old-fashioned term ‘intersex’ is precisely because ignorant people like you use it to suggest they are hermaphrodites.

And lest we forget: the argument ‘some people are born with anbiguous genitalia, so men should be allowed in women’s changing rooms’ is one of the stupidest ever made.

I'm heading back to London tomorrow evening to appear on Good Morning Britain on Monday morning, where I'll be speaking about the Government's plans to release serious violent offenders, sexual offenders, and child sex abusers earlier than many victims and members of the public believe is appropriate.
As a country, we need to stand together and say that this is not acceptable.
These are perpetrators of some of the most devastating crimes imaginable, crimes that leave lifelong scars on victims, their families, and entire communities. Public safety must always come first.
My question to those pushing these proposals is simple, who will take responsibility if further innocent people are harmed as a result of these decisions? If offenders go on to commit further crimes after being released early, who answers to those new victims whose lives may be changed forever?
Are victims not important? Do they not deserve to see meaningful justice carried out? Do they not deserve to know that their safety, and the safety of others, is being prioritised?
We cannot ignore the concerns of victims and survivors. We cannot put convenience ahead of public protection.
We will continue to fight these proposals with everything we have, and we will make sure the voices of victims are heard loud and clear. This affects me personally, aswell as potentially 100's of other victims that are now facing uncertainty while their abusers are assessed for release. The trauma retriggered is immense and each one will also be overwhelmed with worry about the harm to others that could come from this.

So Australia has passed a law that allows men to be listed as mothers on a baby’s birth certificate. This is a government document, so the Australian government has basically just legalized perjury, as long as it’s done to make a trans person feel validated.
