Phosphorus Cycle

The phosphorus cycle is incredibly complex, but it’s one of the most important things to understand if you want to manage fertility efficiently.

Phosphorus doesn’t just sit in one pool, it moves constantly between plants, microbes, and organic matter in the soil.

Most soil tests only measure a snapshot of what’s chemically extractable, not what’s biologically available. And the reality is that a large portion of soil P is tied up in organic or mineral forms that plants can’t access unless biology is active.

When we understand how phosphorus moves through this system, how microbes mineralize it, how roots release exudates to unlock it, and how soil chemistry influences that balance, we can start managing the soil instead of just managing fertilizer.

The goal isn’t to hit a ppm value, it’s to create the conditions where the soil itself becomes the source.
